I wouldn’t eat at Chick-Fil-A, even if they were giving away a chicken sandwich and some waffle fries… FOR FREE. I don’t trust them.
I don’t mind them. They are Christian, but I don’t boycott places because of their religion… I do however require that they not engage in anti-gay causes. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and see what they say before I judge them too hard.
Chik-fil-a is a fundamentalist Christian, anti-gay company. Period. Franchise holders for the company are more or less expected to be of the same mindset and company meetings have been likened to tent revivals.
I happen to love Chick-fil-a sandwiches and their waffle fries. For fast food it’s really pretty good. But the last time I had either of them was over a decade ago, after I learned about the religious, political, and social beliefs held by S. Truett Cathy, the owner of Chik-fil-a, and his financial support of Right-wing Religious groups.
UGH its a breaded chicken breast patty and a couple of pickles and nothing else between two processed wheat buns. drier than a 80 year old woman….
This is news? Chik-fil-a is not open on sunday. ANYWHERE never was, never will be… that should be your first clue. I grew up in South Carolina and these restaurants are everywhere and always closed on sunday.
Dave from Wendy’s was a big right wing fundo donator also…
Another good reason not to eat that junk.
The In-n-Out Burger family is of the same ilk. There are bible verses on the bottom of every cup.
Several of the Chick-Fil-As in my area routinely play Christian music in the background; kind of like Christian Muzak.
I don’t like their politics, but they do seem to be cleaner than most any other fast food franchise I have visited, and the counter employees have had apparent training in how to interact with customers.
Marriage was never intended to be tied to religion. It was invented way before Jesus. When will people realize that?
Marriage was never intended to be tied to chicken sandwiches. Let’s go to Chick-Fil-A and get some marriage advice.
@Jake the libertarian: They took away a scholarship from a kid I went to college with. He was attending Berry University, but had to tranfer to Emory (better school anyway) because CFA revoked his scholarship after they found out he was gay.
Eat at Five Guys. Their stuff is great.
I would nt spend 2 cents there, knowing the parent corp HATES gays, and its steeped in ‘tradional’ Christian values..and,as far as burgers go….well, McDs has’nt printed scriptures on its cups, yet (OMG)
I wouldn’t care if they printed the entire bible on In-and-Out products, I will alsways have them occasionaly. I seldom eat fast food, but when I have a an urge, nothing can touch In-and-Out, nothing…
We all have to be free to believe–or not–what we will; the real question is, Are they out to do you harm? If the test becomes do they love us, some of us won’t be able to eat or shop anywhere.
Seriously, greedy corporations have flaws? Who the hell knew? If we boycotted every company we didn’t agree with, we would have no where left to shop. Chick-fil-A has the best chicken anywhere, hands down. They kick KFC’s ass. The ONLY thing I worry about when buying a product is price and value. Anything else doesn’t matter. If I let things like human interests get in the way, I could never again justify shopping at Wal-Mart, and that will just never happen.
@Jon B: So, he was perfectly willing to go to college on the dime of a “bigoted organization” but wasn’t smart enough to stay in the closet while doing so?
If that is truly the case, he deserved to lose his scholarship.
Okay Chick-fil-A, we’re waiting on a National statement, AND whether or not Chick-fil-A money went toward this cause or not…tick, tick, tick, tick,…
And until then, No Chick-fil-A on my diet!
I’ll never understand why people rhapsodize about Chick-Fila-A’s products. I ate there once and thought “meh.” At best they’re average.
After I ate there, I learned they cross-promo with Focus on the Family, a Christian anti-gay hate group. For that alone, they’ll never get another dime from me, even if they discover the cure for cancer is in those dank sandwiches.
What’s the fucking point of claiming to be concerned with gay issues, writing your Congressperson, yadda yadda yadda, if you’re going to turn around and give your money to businesses which actively support and fund anti-gay causes?
And yes, there are gray areas and it would be nearly impossible to deal only with companies that are “pro-gay.” So that’s an excuse for using NO discretion in where your money goes? Where you draw that line is a matter of personal choice, but I’d think that refusing to patronize businesses which ACTIVELY oppose gay rights would be a “no-brainer.”
Hell, not that I was really that tempted in the first place, but I won’t buy or pay to see any of the “Twilight” crap because, no matter what Stephanie Meyer personally thinks about gays or gay rights, she’s tithing 10% of her MASSIVE earnings to a church which will use that money to fund anti-gay ballot initiatives.
I don’t boycott or punish people for their religion. With that said, anti-gay bigotry is not justified by religion, so therefore, I’m not spending a dime at a store that helps fund and/or endorses anti-gay hatred. And if you do, you are more or less saying being anti-gay is an admissible offense.
Can someone tell me how this weekend is “anti-gay” or even anti-gay marriage?
It’s for Christian couples who are already married to enrich and maintain their relationships. If the couple is Christian, it’s likely that they are heterosexual.
Nowhere on the agenda does it say anything anti-gay or hateful.
Just because someone is Christian doesn’t mean they’re hateful.
Feel free to boycott Chick-Fil-A all you want, but this seems like some more propaganda just to get people more pissed off.
The Art of Marriage site may have removed the “sponsorship” text, but it shows that Chick-Fil-A is providing the lunch.
From the event site:
* Lunch on Saturday provided by Chick-fil-A
Seems like they’re still involved, even if they aren’t on the top banner any more.
Good God…All they wanted to do was provide lunch…Chill the eff out. Honestly…They serve food. It’s what they do. Can you honestly fault them for providing the service they were built to provide just because it goes against what YOU, as an individual, believe?
Reading through these comments I see that many of you still ate at Chick-Fil-A even though they clearly have a Christian background, and NOW, and only now, you’re going to stop eating there because they tried to give some food to an organization that just happens to coincides with that religion? Wow…just…wow…
And before I get flamed for trolling, just so you know — I was curious as to what happened with this Chick-Fil-A. Everyone seemed to know something happened, but nobody knew what. So I Googled it. This, unfortunately, just happened to be the search result that I click on. The article told me absolutely nothing, so I read the comments to see if they offered any clues. Boy, did they ever…
Just like everything else in America – if you don’t like it, go somewhere else. You are free to voice your opinion, but the company is also free to run their business as they want to.
They found their principles on Christian values.
(def. Christian = Christ-like)
If they follow the principles of Christ then they are not anti-anything. They should welcome all people, which I believe they do.
Hmm, I have not heard of In and Out Burger. Sounds like a perfect place for homosexuals to hang out.
I’m glad Chic fil A is a christian owned business & that means christians do not believe in homosexuality! What’s the problem;Christians are not for gay right, nor for gay marriage it’s not like Burger King where “you can have it your way.” There are many people who oppose Gay Marriage & I am one of the plus I always eat at Chic Fil A & I commend them on their stance.
@Corliss: GTFP TROLL. and I haven’t been to Chik Fil A in forever, and will continue to boycott. They are anti gay to the core. What the fuck does marriages have to do with selling chicken? Don’t mix business with religion and politics. Period. This kind of mess is what you wind up with.
