Spitzer In Whore Scandal!

spitzere.jpg
New York Governor Eliot Spitzer told his staff today that he's involved in a prostitution ring. Via NY Times:

Mr. Spitzer, who was huddled with his top aides early this afternoon, had hours earlier abruptly canceled his scheduled public events for the day. He is set to make an announcement about 2:15 this afternoon at his Manhattan office.

Mr. Spitzer, a first-term Democrat who pledged to bring ethics reform and end the often seamy ways of Albany, is married with three children.

Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved.

Cue the Republican outrage. And a vague statement from Spitzer political state mate, Hillary Clinton.

Well that sucks. I really wanted the sex scandal to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the republican party. On the other hand, Spitzer was never a Family Values Hypocrite, and he was buying grownup ladies, presumably, not little boys, so I guess the repubs maintain their advantage.

Ref the EMB remark above:

What an idiot - do you think the governor got his advice from Rep. Barney Frank's ex-room mate?

Good god, he's just a customer, that's the state of this "country" . If sex workers were licensed and had a union their wouldn't be the
criminality and abuse tied to it.
But then what could people think about?

Um, wait a minute. Spitzer sent people to jail for doing this. That seems like some serious hypocrisy to me. We can't complain about them if we protect our own hypocrites.

I truly hope the Rethugs try to make this a big deal during the election. I can't wait for the Dems to remind everyone of Vitter, Foley, Craig, Duke Cunningham and the rest. Spitzer is a hypocrite, but there is an army of hypocrites on their side. He'll resign, replaced by a very good Lt. Gov. Actually, Spitzer is so unpopular that this may turn out better for the NY Dems than the MSM seems to think. Of course, they have conveniently forgotten about wide stances and New Orleans hookers because a Dem is involved in this, but it'll come up. I also doubt very much if this will have an impact on the GE, which is over 6 months away. The next economic disaster will erase it from the public memory, like the upcoming $4.00 a gallon gas that we'll be paying. The way things are going it might be cheaper to hire a hooker than to fill up your car. And I wonder, how many Rethugs were also involved in this?
And if I was a Dem invited by the MSM to debate this issue with a Rethug on national TV, I would be sure to place a framed picture of David Vitter in front of me as I spoke.

Obama also made a vague statement as did Schumer.

What do you expect people in his own party to do? Lynch him?

God be a little more biased.
