I have become so disappointed with the EU recently. They used to be so pro-gay, so in favour of basic human rights for gay people. But ever since the cripplingly backward eastern countries were allowed to join, the EU seems to be bending to their xenophobic. I can only hope Turkey (a Muslim country) is never allowed to join.

Oh, it will be a giant step back for the ever-so-enlightened Europeans if they fail to include anti-discrimination laws protecting gays.

I really hope the EU can follow in South Africa’s footsteps and get this passed . . . I really hope EVERYONE can follow in SA’s footsteps (on this issue at least).

Totally agree with Queerunity. That country’s government has been nothing but a nuisance since accession.

Kicking us out will not resolve our problems Brothers. EU for now is our ONLY hope. We are winning small battles against our government in EU courts… and no one else except EU can push them enough hard to change our lives. We are really in big danger, but we are still fighting. Don’t leave us alone, don’t push us outside… please.

I think Szymon has a good point. While we may all
think Poland and for that matter Italy should be kicked to the curb we must remmeber that we have our gay brothers and sisters living there, many of which endure hardships we cannot even imagine.
