As of this writing, 2,029 people have signed an online petition urging Heinz to reinstate its controversial "gay kiss" mayonnaise commercial. For those of you bad with numbers, 2,029 is greater than 200, which happens to be the number of people who complained about the advert. Will Heinz hear the queer call?! [Petition Online]
Bring back my Deli Man!
While I question the impact of online petitions, I did sign that a few days ago when someone posted a link to it.
I signed the petition. It also seems like some people are making videos on YT about it.
Like, for example: http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=qdehTeumKH8
(Yeah, he's a kid and makes some off-colour jokes about the gays but it's refreshing to see a young, straight, male expressing disdain for homophobia)
Why would Heinz even pay attention to 200 complaints from a viewing/buying population of 10's of millions? (kidz don't count)
CitizenGeek, I checked out the kid's vid. Indeed, some of his jokes were off-color, but I think his heart was in the right place.
"…you are so blatantly gay. you so blatantly like it in the bum…"
lol
Ooh, look: you can send an email to Heinz directly: http://www.heinz.co.uk/content/talk_to_us.aspx
