OK, poetry readings make us a little nervous. There’s always that distinct chance you may end up witnessing a car crash in slow motion.
But Steven James Boyle certainly didn’t cause any casualties when he performed his spoken word “I Hit Send, or Modern Meltdown” to a small and lucky crowd in what appears to be the basement of a public library. We heard that’s where Bruce Springsteen got his start, too.
Move over, Susan, there’s a new Boyle in town.
It also doesn’t hurt that he’s nice to look at, making us wonder how on Earth he could have experienced the amount of unrequited love he talks about in the poem.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Steven, we’re sure we could line up some dates for you.
Watch it here:
And as if that’s not enough, here’s some of Steven’s Instagram feed to seal the deal:

Let’s see, do I want to inflate someone’s ego today? Why not I’m feeling generous. The guy is clearly hot.
Rakkaus
I love poetry readings, tho Steven Boyle’s poetry seems to be a lot more fun than the poetry readings I’m used to, tho I love it. 😛
And this guy is gorgeous. <3
litper
At last. A cute gay guy on Queerty after that ocean of “straight” filth.
bradharden1
Hmm kinda plain looking if ya ask me.
Faulk
He is really, really cute, thx for posting. <3
Billy Budd
He is just plain cute. Not CUTE.
Tookietookie123
Commenters on queerty articles are extremely judgmental and downright egotistical, even getting a “kinda cute” means you’ve passed with flying colors, hell even the hot Brazilian models were met with a majority of opposition …
jmorgan254
Hilarious. This guy is adorable. He can hit send to me all day…
chilidog
Never heard of him but he sure is cute! …and here I was under the impression Tom Daley was the only cute guy in the world..lol.
enlightenone
Finally, a young, cute guy with a brain and healthy sense of his “queer” self. Who is he? Never heard or seen him before!
Jacob23
@enlightenone: He’s not “queer.” He’s gay. And he is awesome.
jd2222248
Great poem!
enlightenone
@Jacob23: Okay, no need to get your panties in a bunch! I used “quotes” for a reason. “Brain” and “healthy” should have blown your dress up. I guess not!
thebutterflycatcher
Definitely NOT hugely attractive. Just another average blond guy. Worse: his poetry isn’t that great. I wish people would stop elevating their casual obsessions in a bid to make an average everyday guy the be-all, end-all of gay beauty. Queerty, don’t make this child another Davy Wavy because it’s almost like Davy’s paying you to promote his swole ass.
Tackle
I find this guy is very plain looking. Average to the max. But lets not ignor the elephant in the room. When you are young, and your skin is “certain”
color, that takes you over into the land of hotness…
tdx3fan
I know QT really likes Daley and Efron, but I didn’t realize you had such a type. Personally, I like guys that look like they aged out of puberty.
SportGuy
Don’t see the big deal. He is just an average looking kid.
SportGuy
@Tackle:
You hit the nail on the head! It’s so sad but true in the gay community!
lykeitiz
Ah yes……Bitter, nasty Queerty readers, tearing down a creative young man with a positive sense of self.
And thank you @Tackle: , for pointing out that he’s also white….another true crime!
Now run along bitter queens…..Don’t you have some puppies to torture?
onthemark
Well at least he’s actually gay. I thought Queerty only had crushes on straight guys.
AJAnders
Many of these comments you guys are making about how “plain looking” and “not cute,” he is is really bumming me out. I’d kill to look half as hot as this guy.
Dxley
Another day, another bitchfest on Queerty. Nothing new!
w0by
Oh lord, all of you queens are so judgmental. I like the poetry and thought it was fun and interesting. Who even cares what he looks like, everyone has their own taste in men and women.
barkomatic
@AJAnders: Whenever there is a cute guy posted on Queerty it’s always followed by commentators who say the guy is actually ugly. It’s a kind of self propaganda–if they say it frequently enough then they can talk themselves into being attracted to whatever they’ve settled for instead of whoever is featured here.
Believe me, if this guy entered a bar men would fall all over themselves to get with him including the haters.
vive
@barkomatic, @Tookietookie123, maybe some of it is sour grapes, but maybe some of it is also a reaction against the superficiality and unfairness of some people getting everything handed to them on a plate because of their looks. In a way it’s like telling the cheerleader types that they’re not all that.
barkomatic
@vive: Well, there is truth in that. Good looking people definitely have an advantage — but so do rich people, charismatic people, intelligent people etc. Most of us have some advantage to fall back on and some lucky people have more than one. I don’t automatically fault a guy for being good looking–he might be a nice guy.
Charlie in Charge
The poem was very fun, a creative look at the challenges of insecurity.
As to mean-spirited comments above – there is nothing quite so ugly as a person who wants to anonymously tear down someone who has shared their creativity on the internet. Try to be better.
SteveDenver
I don’t have a crush, but I wouldn’t say “no.’
Now the girl who dropped the “F” bomb is worth getting to know, she’s funny and brash! His response is pretty priceless.
Good poem, cute guy.
I know a lot of bitches feel the need to tear him down, that says more about them than him.
bradharden1
Yep poems about as average as he is, give a few days and he’ll be a lost name, if he aint already.
vive
@Charlie in Charge, @SteveDenver, I agree to an extent that tearing people down is bad, but on the other hand I don’t think it does any good to encourage the narcissism of someone who plasters his selfies all over the internet looking for validation, and so I understand the impulse to bring someone like that down a notch.
Cam
Guy better watch his liver, in the first picture that is a sh*tload of bottles up above the cabinets. lol
Charlie in Charge
@vive: By “all over the internet” do you mean his Instagram account? Because they were pulled from his Instagram account. And no, no one needs you to bring him down a notch.
What’s very interesting about this is that his poem has quite a bit to say about being afraid to act because of what people will think or say.
vive
@Charlie in Charge, LOL, Instagram is all over the internet, quite literally. And I’m sure if the poem is any good it is not because it is about being afraid to post selfies on the internet because of whether people will say you’re hot or not hot.
JennyFromdabloc
@Tackle: @SportGuy: @lykeitiz: Yet there are no shortages of posts purporting the “hotness” of Michael Sam. We do not all swoon for the same guy, to each their own. The PC Police does not need to choke-hold personal opinions.
JohnMc888
I think the term for his attractiveness is “boy next door,” not plain. AND there’s more to seduction than the look of someone in a still shot. The voice, the movement, the eyes, the hint of adventureness in bed. He radiates those other seductive qualities.
Tackle
Some of you guys need to grow the fu@k up, and learn and understand, what it means to tear someone down. From some of these posters, you would think that comments were made, (calling him a looser. Wishing he would fail or have failure. Wishing him ill health or on a loved one of his) and so forth, along that route. Which no one here has done. Commenting about someone’s looks, is not tearing them down. It’s just someone’s opinion. To me, he’s plain. You may think otherwise. All good! And I’m sure that he would find many on here, even the one’s who are so fervently defending him to be too old. Too fat. Not buff enough. Maybe too buff. To skinny. Ugly. Or plain. Do you think he doesn’t in someway feel the same about others? And let’s face it. The reason why some are so bent out of shape, is because you cannot handle that others do not find what you find hot or attractive. Such immaturity. And by the way. Since some of you claim to be such advocates for rightness and fairness. And hate to see gay men tear others down. Go over to the Taye Diggs post where one of or own called him ugly and post your grievances there, like you did for this kid.
Charlie in Charge
@Tackle: Or maybe you could grow up and realize the people you snidley criticize are actual human beings with actual human feelings and it’s not very kind to call them plain and average looking.
If he was a contestant in a beauty pageant your opinion on his looks would be valid. He is not, he wrote a poem. The article’s author said he thought he was cute.
Try to do better.
SportGuy
The kid is average looking, not a big deal. That is not a put down, as the vast majority of the country is average looking.
enlightenone
@onthemark: Tom Daley used to be straight about a year ago! He’s gay now.
vive
Come on, these are “HOT OR NOT HOT” articles. That’s the whole purpose of them. Some will come down on one side and some on the other. Hotness is not objective, so accept that some people will find him “not hot” and move on with your life. Personally attacking people for it is uncalled for.
Nixter
@Charlie in Charge: Well said. True that.
Jacob23
I think everyone should pay close attention to the 3 commenters (or single commenter posting under 3 names) who made negative comments about this guy’s looks. Because there is an important lesson to be learned from them. When you organize your life around sex and not around love, when you denude yourself of intimate romantic connection and replace it with 2-D porn via the internet and 3-D porn via Grindr, when you select your “mates” from a digitized menu of torsos and dongs, eventually you will be changed. You will relate to people on the basis of their potential as a hookup partner or as JO material. Even a young gay man earnestly sharing his need for love becomes just another object to be rated.
vive
@Joacob23, you must be so young. Gay men have been objectifying each other and been catty with each other since time immemorial. If you weren’t alive then, you should read some gay literature from the 70s, 80s, and pre-internet 90s. Porn and Grindr can be blamed from many things, but not for this.
Aaron
It’s his face, not his poetry people seem to be praising him for.
enlightenone
@Aaron: I’m “praising” for him his creative effort, embracing and celebrating his life and sexuality. Didn’t say he is hot; I’m twice his age, not my personal taste, but cute overall. Of “white” MEN here are a few: Mark Wahlberg, Chris Evans, Leonardo DiCaprio, Channing Tatum, Justin Timberlake, Charlie Hunnam, and Ben Affleck.
Jaroslaw
I don’t understand most of this thread. The writer said he was really cute and some disagreed. I think he looks much cuter with the beard than his no-beard photos. I also think his voice is nice and how he performs his poem, which I really enjoyed, makes him sexy too. But it is not a crime to say he isn’t cute nor is it “tearing him down.” This comment box is for, well, comments. It really doesn’t matter, I’m sure he will get plenty of dates after this anyway!
robho3
Not a fan of poetry but that was good- I liked it!
MudgeBoy
I never had the nerve to come out to any of my classmates in high school. I did however in college but only to a few. What a great age we live in. I’m so envious.
capeguyz
Great pros!
Terrycloth
I enjoyed the video ..the thing I wish he would have done was slow down .even with the
Subtitles it was to me rushed.he did say he was shy so maybe it hurried through it..
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
Haha. Nicely done, fella. Shame dem hating-ass Queerty bitches! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTosqK2bsfM
