THE PERFECT DOUBLE ACT

Superstar Stage Siblings Andrew And Celia Keenan-Bolger Introduce Broadway For Obama

When we saw an email from openly gay Broadway cutie Andrew Keenan-Bolger in our inbox, we put down the chocolate taco and hit “open” immediately.

It turns out Andrew, who’s treading the boards as Crutchie in Newsies, has teamed up with his equally talented sister Celia—currently starring as Molly in Peter and the Starcatcher—to start Broadway for Obama, a Great White Way group helping with the President’s re-election campaign.

Says Andrew:

“We started an organization called Broadway for Obama to get members and fans of the theatre community to come together this fall for a common cause, to get Barack Obama re-elected. We’re doing a weekly video series letting people know things that they can be doing to join the fight leading up to the election. As the Broadway community is driven by many creative and talented gay individuals, electing Barack is of utmost importance to us and our future.”

The kids have come up with some pretty original strategies to get the message out—including encouraging Broadway performers to wear Obama swag when they sign autographs. And if you’re a pro-Obama audience member, Andrew and Celia promise to give you some “extra attention” if you have a pin, T-shirt or other political accessory on.

If we could just get a hug from Andrew, we will drive the damn bus to the nearest swing state.
