Swedish Teens Want To See Gay Jesus Burn

Some Swedish teens fancy themselves art critics. The troublemakers apparently disagreed with an art show in Jonkoping, where artists from around the world displayed images of gay-friendly Jesus at the Ecco Homo exhibit.

In an effort to destroy the show, the teens allegedly attempted to burn the place down. They didn't succeed in their mission, but did succeed in starting a brawl involving 30 people.

Tony el Zouki, chairman of Kulturhuset, said around 30 people were involved in the fracas. The attempt to vandalize the exhibition appeared to have religious motivations, he said.

Jönköping is known as the heartland of Sweden's evangelical Christian movement.

"If this is some Christian group, then I really do not understand them. The message of Christianity is that people should understand and love each other," el Zouki told The Local.

Obviously el Zouki doesn't have much experience with Evangelicals.

I LOVE Elizabeth Olsen Wallin SOOOO much. her first wave of attack came when Ecco Homo toured Europe (like 8 years ago or something), and ended up in Rome when the Vatican was doing their Jubilee Celebration and she was displaying her photography 2 streets over. LOL.

I wrote her back then and asked if she would ever show in the united states. At the time, she wanted to show in San Francisco, but couldn't get sponsored because of the nature of the artwork. That was around 1999-2000 or so.

That's been some years ago, and I don't know if she ever got sponsorship to come to the U.S. (anyone know?) but I would love to see her work displayed on American soil.

I think she's brilliant.

Does Wallin have an official website at all?

These photos are brilliant compositions (click on the main one to see them all). While this Last Supper shot is campy, to be sure, the pieces do not make fun of Christianity. Rather, they celebrate it in a very inclusive and affecting way.
