It's not a dumb question. |

While discussing the press' treatment of his friend, the Republican presidential candidate, Salter took specific aim at homo-journo Andrew Sullivan, who had previously speculated that McCain lifted his "cross in the sand" story from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, which wasn't the case. And Salter's still salty about it: Your blogging colleague over there seems to have lost his fucking mind, you know. Prior to Sarah Palin, he was accusing me of being a plagiarist, the whole Solzhenitsyn thing, the cross in the sand, and then it turned out that Sozhenitsyn didn't write such a story. I mean, Jesus Christ, it's just remarkable. This whole story about how [Sarah Palin's] baby isn't hers? Jesus Christ. Just crazy shit. "Just crazy shit." Yep, that about sums about the past billion months of campaigning. Remember that messiah crap? Wild! [PS: Did we ever find out for sure McCain's cross story was true?] |
» Calling Out…
From Andrew Sullivan: "Black Californians back the anti-gay measure by a margin of 20 points, 58 - 38, in the SUSA poll. No other ethnic group comes close to the level of opposition and black turnout is likely to be very high next month. All this makes it vital, in my opinion, that Barack Obama strongly and unequivocally oppose Proposition 8 in California, rather than keeping mainly quiet as he has done so far. We need him to make an ad opposing it." [The Daily Dish] |

In an essay titled "Why I Blog," Sullivan spends around 5,000+ words describing his relation to the "quintessentially postmodern idiom" and the nasty, nasty commentator criticism. Yep it's just a blow-hardy as it sound… |

What is with the McCain campaign?! First they're accused - twice! - of plagiarizing recipes, and now homo-journo Andrew Sullivan claims the Republican presidential candidate stole his new slogan - "Don't Hope For A Better Life; Vote For One" - from Margaret Thatcher's 1970 prime minister push. [Daily Dish] |
» Rebuttal.
David Medina, a member of HRC's board of directors and former national political director for John Edwards, bit back at Andrew Sullivan, Michael Petrelis and others who accuse HRC of being slanted toward Hillary Clinton during the primary race. In addition to justifying the myriad positions of HRC leaders, Medina offers this rebuttal to Sullivan's accusations of inaction: "…The communications team of HRC is not in DC in their regular offices, but in California helping manage the surge of media around the historic marriages that will begin taking place this afternoon. That kind of work, along with keeping an eye toward the elections in the fall, is where their energy – and the rest of ours - should be right now, not in this kind of community infighting." Homo-journo and avowed bear Andrew Sullivan has some questions about Human Rights Campaign's garbage reaction to Clinton-endorsing Mike Easley's "pansy" remark: "I wonder if HRC ran this by the staff at the Hillary Rodham Clinton camp first? Or would that have been superfluous?" [Daily Dish] |

Obama-adoring homo-journo Andrew Sullivan predicts an epilogue to the Bush Administration: war crime indictments. Sullivan, appearing on The Chris Matthews Show this weekend, believes that a newly released John Yoo "torture memo," which gave the government a green light to use excessive measures to question detainees, will get a new life after the next inauguration. Said Sullivan: The latest revelations on the torture front show the memo from John Yoo…means that Don Rumsfeld, David Addington and John Yoo should not leave the United States any time soon. They will be, at some point, indicted for war crimes. Yes, but what about the big chief, George W. Bush? |
» Decisions.
Hillary Clinton took a jab at Barack Obama and former pastor Jeremiah Wright today, saying: "[Wright] would not have been my pastor. You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend." Homo-journo Andrew Sullivan's so outraged by Clinton's comments, he calls defeating "the Clintons" a "national imperative". [Daily Dish] |

The candidate's making a speech on the matter as we "speak," but loyal supporter Andrew Sullivan doesn't need no stinking speech to know that Obama's his man. |

Will Gay Journalist's Heart Be Broken? Probably.
The great forgotten principles of the current Republican party are freedom and toleration. Paul's federalism, his deep suspicion of Washington power, his resistance to government spending, debt and inflation, his ability to grasp that not all human problems are soluble, least of all by government: these are principles that made me a conservative in the first place. Poor Sullivan. His dreams are probably going to be shattered: Rasmussen Reports reports that Paul only has 6% of the likely Republican votes. Sullivan's Democratic favorite Barack Obama, however, holds 27% of likely Democratic voters. |
