Holy homos! Logo-owned NewNowNext seems poised to explode all other awards shows!

The website just announced the nominees for its first annual eponymous awards show. And the categories are anything but straight, like "Most Guiltiest Pleasure," "The Kylie Award: Next International Crossover," the "Because You Deserve An Award" award and our personal favorite, "Totally Most Rad Sickest Blog Ever," for which we're honored to have been nominated! (You'll vote for us if you know what's good for you.)

Candis Cayne hosts the show, which airs June 7th, and Janet Jackson will make a special appearance to pick up the Always Next, Forever Now award.

While we hope all you crazy kids vote during next week's midterm elections, we're praying you all cast your ballots in Queer Click's first annual Gay Bloggie Awards. And, of course, we hope you vote for us: the sexiest, most entertaining, and downright swell homo-journos this side of the internet super highway.

And, once you're done casting your vote for the Bloggies, why not go on over to Lone Star Verve and do the same for their contest?

If we win, editor Andrew Belonsky will show you his left nipple. And if we win big, you'll get the right one, too. What a treat!

Tony Awards

For us, last night was dedicated to Entourage and Tourgasm. But we hear this was a little awards show last night, too. Something called the .. Tony's? Why yes, of course! You think we snatch up free theatre tickets from publicists and then stop caring about Broadway? Certainly not.

Last night's top winner, much to our surprise, was The History Boys, a British import that we had the pleasure of seeing during previews. The History Boys picked up six awards, including best actor, which went to Richard Griffiths (and was presented by Broadway dud Julia Roberts). Across the stage, Jersey Boys and The Drowsy Chaperone also led the pack with four and five awards each, respectively.

Meanwhile, Oprah's The Color Purple, up for 11 nominations, snagged only one: LaChanze for best actress-musical. Harry Connick Jr.'s The Pajama Game didn't go home empty handed, and neither did Rabbit Hole star Cynthia Nixon, who picked up the best actress-play Tony. Now all she needs is an Oscar.

Pete Wentz

Queerty hit the 2006 MTV Movie Awards Saturday and, in between chatting with Dane Cook about his Brangelina baby gifts and snapping pics of celebrity asses, we had a chance to grab some soundbites from the only celebs willing to recognize their gay audience. (Okay, that's not entirely fair, but Christina Aguilera didn't exactly have time for us.)

We ran into former Real Worlder Landon Lueck, who's giddy about expanding his clothing line Glyde, which got its first blast of publicity on the MTV show. In between posing for Wax underwear, he doesn't even have time to watch the current season of RR ("I don't watch it. I can't!"). But he is thrilled by all the attention the gay community has given him.

"I'm flattered," he tells us. "One thing I've heard is that if it's accepted in the gay culture then it's gonna hit mainstream like huge, so I guess i kinda apply that to myself." And as for the gays drooling over his underwear spreads? "I think it's great. It's flattering. Anyone who is a fan of me, it's a nice gesture."

Meanwhile, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz was busy running around the red carpet doing MTV interviews, but he did give us a few minutes of his non-X-rated time. You'll remember Wentz from his unexpected expose, courtesy of some leaked Sidekick photos. "If you don't want naked pictures of yourself on the Internet, don't take naked pictures of yourself." Good advice, unless of course you're looking for a date. Ever since the photos appeared "the boys will not stop calling me."

Try as we might, we just couldn't get Hayden Christensen to stick around for chat. All we wanted to know was whether he thought Jared Leto was hotter gay or straight.

And, not that MTV's awards count for much, but you'll be pleased to know a certain gay favorite film that was snubbed by the Oscars gets plenty of recognition during the ceremony.

Campari The Secret Epica

We thought we knew what was going on in this British Campari commercial, but it fooled even our seasoned gay eyes. That could be why it was a finalist for a 2005 Epica award, which recognizes creativity in advertising across a variety of mediums. It is a great little video, but we still think Campari tastes totally disgusting.

Bloggies

You rarely hear from me, David Hauslaib, the publisher of Queerty. But I figured this would be the right time to chime in and congratulate our writing team of Bradford Shellhammer, Steve Pep, and Scott Rose — if only so they don't have bend down and administer auto-fellatio. Congratulations for what?

For winning the Best GLBT Weblog in the 2006 Weblog Awards, that's what! It was just announced today in Austin at South By Southwest. We couldn't be more pleasantly surprised, especially in the face of such worthy competition as Towleroad, Good As You, Joe My God, and Little Yellow Different.

It's been a truly rewarding experience right from the start (which wasn't so long ago: September 2005) to see readers immediately "get" Queerty and continue coming back everyday for our mix of queer pop culture, fashion, travel, entertainment, news and politics, and, of course, our skin pics. While the Bloggie goes to Bradford, Steve, and Scott, it's you, our readers, who deserve the recognition.

As we move forward with a new writing team in place, we can only hope we'll make next year's list of nominees. And that you'll accept our invitation to be our gaybor.

And if you happen to be at SXSW, say hello to Queerty's newest editorial addition, blogosphere veteran Dan Renzi, who is very excited to have joined the Queerty team. Because in the words of Reese Witherspoon, we're all "just trying to matter."

We’re really honored to be one of the nominees for Best GLBT Weblog over at The Bloggies. The other nominees, Joe My God, Towleroad, Good As You, and Little Yellow Different are all frequent reads of ours. Our editor has performed alongside Joe, made brunch for Ernie, and put a few back with Andy. We don’t know that little fellow over at Good As You, but we’re sure we’d love him too.

So vote for us or for them. It’s just nice being acknowledged for the work we’ve been doing and we promise to keep up the news, the attitude, and the nonsense.
