» HRC v. CNN
HRC staffer Brad Luna took a shot at CNN for their coverage of the Democratic "Compassion Forum" held at anti-gay Messiah University, "It is an unfortunate choice by CNN and we would rather have seen them hold this forum in a more welcoming environment." Too bad CNN didn't book the venue. Said the news network's representative: "The organizers from Faith in Public Life invited the candidates, selected the venue, and they also invited CNN to telecast the event." Whatever, we're mostly disappointed gays didn't come up once during the event, which went down last Sunday. [ABC News] |
» Joe Solmonese Gives It Away
HRC's feeling charitable this Super Tuesday. We just received a very excited email from communications director Brad Luna explaining that the non-profit wants to provide you with free clips from The Agenda, their Joe Solmonese and Mary Breslauer hosted radio show. Gee, thanks! Click here to listen to Hillary lover Christine Quinn and Obama man Tobias Wolff plead their cases. Here's our girlfriend Kerry Eleveld and here the HRC crew write about said episode. Now, excuse us. We just came. (It's show's porny theme song - gets us every time!) |

What's Up With That Poll?
Considering all the inconsistencies, Bay Area Reporter asked HRC's Brad Luna for an explanation. For the record, we also left a message for Luna, but were not granted a reply. Queer. From BAR: We immediately asked who these [poll subjects] were – HRC members or subscribers of the Advocate? (The magazine was first out of the box to post the story about the survey, leaving some to wonder if the two were joined at the hip on this one.) Minutes later, we received a call from spokesman Brad Luna, who assured us that the 500 folks were "randomly" selected "from across the country" and were "not HRC members and not Advocate readers." Blogger Michael Petrelis highlights another part of the excerpt, "[Luna] declined to name the polling company that conducted the survey, which he said was done by telephone." He also implores HRC give up the secret of their survey success. |

"I see no reason why there should be any different standard."
During a Congressional grilling, Attorney General nominee Michael Mukasey said he doesn't "understand" why the Department of Justice continues to overlook gay staffers for vacant positions. What's more, Mukasey sees no problem with gay groups announcing events, something they've been prohibited to do since Janet Reno's reign. Additionally, Mukasey told officials he has always insisted on gay-friendly employment practices:
HRC has yet to issue an official statement, but spokesman Brad Luna described Mukasey's position as "refreshing". Isn't it just? Read the transcript after the jump… |
