» The Good Fight.
Joining the ranks of fellow celebrities Brad Pitt, Steven Spielberg and Pete Wentz, out actor TR Knight donated some of his hard-earned cash to fighting Proposition 8, a measure that would re-ban gay marriage in California. Knight, who appears on Grey's Anatomy, gave $50,000. [Advocate] |
» Big (Gay) Spender!
With regard to the earlier story on Hollywood's involvement in the Proposition 8 fight: "Jonathan Lewis, entrepreneur and political activist and scion of the Cleveland-based insurance fortune, is pledging to chip in $500,000 to defeat Proposition 8 if the entertainment industry does the same… His matching offer comes after Brad Pitt, and Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, each chipped in $100,000 for the No on 8 campaign, after a flurry of stories showing that backers of Yes on 8 have out raised their counterparts. Curiously, at the time, little money to defeat the measure had come from the entertainment business, but the pace of fund-raising appears to be picking up. David Geffen recently donated another $50,000, adding to the $50,000 he already has given." [Wilshire and Washington] |

Will He And Famous Friends Hurt Cause?
Hoping to diminish opponent Barack Obama's respectability, McCain portrayed the Senator as a tabloid idol on the same level as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. That tactic, like so many others, blew up in his face. Even Paris Hilton was making fun of him! As sad as that may have been for McCain, the candidate had the right idea: rank-and-file Republicans aren't too keen on Hollywood, where it's all glittery and liberal. Stars and celebrities do not have American values, what with their headline grabbing divorces and bastard children. It's sick! Well, none of those people will be surprised to hear that a number of Hollywood's elite have come out against Proposition 8, a ballot measure intent on overturning gay marriage in California. Steven Spielberg and Brad Pitt - who has at least three illegitimate children - have both donated large sums of money to fight the measure. And now Pete Wentz - a gay-friendly singer who knocked up his girlfriend Ashley Simpson - dedicated his name and donated his dough to the good, gay fight. Though he hasn't specified a dollar amount, the singer did describe Proposition 8 as "fucking lame," a profanity social conservatives most likely frown upon. |

Director Steven Spielberg and his actress wife, Kate Capshaw, join Brad Pitt and other A-listers in donating to the fight against Proposition 8, a measure seeking to reverse this year's gay marriage win. Upon making their $100,000 donation public, Spielberg and Capshaw had this to say: By writing discrimination into our state constitution, Proposition 8 seeks to eliminate the right of each and every citizen in our state to marry regardless of sexual orientation. Such discrimination has NO place in California's constitution, or any other. You can tell they're serious by the fact that they capitalized "no." [Image] |
» Brad Pitt is my Hero
Brad Pitt, the liberal lion of Hollywood, has donated a cool $100,000 to fight anti-gay Prop. 8. "No one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," Pitt said in a statement. Pitt is one of our truly great movie stars/philanthropist. Leave him some love in the comments. Thanks Brad! |

"Give Gays Respect."
Matthews first brings up a talking Craig doll and then offered a clip of Boston Legal's James Spader defending William Shatner in a lewd conduct arrest. Says Spader: "We‘re actually sitting in a courtroom wasting tax dollars because my client had gas. He was constipated." From there Matthews veers toward that George Clooney/Brad Pitt toe-tapping send-up and ends his brief segment with this: Isn‘t it great how we Americans can laugh at—even at the most desperate of human acts? And that's exactly why we love you, blondie. |

Is It Over Yet?
George Clooney wasn't able to make it, but he sent a video tribute. Gushing over his Ocean's costar while sitting in a bathroom stall, Clooney suddenly found himself in a Sen. Larry Craig situation. Someone was in the next stall trying to tap shoes with the Hollywood hunk. Um, right. This isn't the first Larry Craig send up unleashed upon the world. And, we're sure, it won't be the last. If Craig has done anything productive during his Senatorial tenure, it's vanquish the once ubiquitous Brokeback references. |

Poor Shimizu may want to think again. So, does Pitt worry Jolie will stray? She did, after all, break up his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. Jolie swears he's got "blind faith" she'll remain faithful, “He lets me talk to whomever I want." The stunning actress, who once had a fling with lesbian model also tells Public that she'll be Pitt's as long as he "stays sexy," which shouldn't be that hard for the legendary leading man. |

I have got to say, I must say, if I had to be on my hands and knees with three other guys, I can't think of three better guys to do it with. For some reason we think he's said that before… • Once a staunch supporter of the Defense of Marriage Act, Hillary Clinton told the HRC queer questionnaire she'd like to dismantle the federal government's role in marriage law. Does this mean she's moving toward full endorsement of state-based same-sex marriage? Hardly. • South Africa's "first comprehensive lesbian website" debuts. What's a comprehensive lesbian? Is that like versatile? |
