Poor Lindsay Lohan. The paps may love her, but the Sapphic-seeming actress can't catch a break with her fellow celebrities, including the far less fabulous Chace Crawford:

Lohan, who launched her 6126 line at Henri Bendel last night, pulled on the "Gossip Girl" boy's shirt and grabbed his shoulder, but "Crawford was more interested in talking with Taylor Momsen," our spy said.

Lohan got dissed again at Madonna's Madison Square Garden show Sunday when Madge gave Kelly Ripa her mike during her rendition of "Give It to Me" instead of to the rehabbed starlet, who was standing next to Ripa in the front row.

The television show Gossip Girl is not all teenage sex in limousines, classy drinking at posh hotel bars, fashion internships with elite designers, and xoxo-ing.

Behind the scenes, a complex machine is at work, where diva personalities are "managed," drug abuse is "handled," and eating disorders are ignored. (No quotation marks on that one.)

And while the tense relationship between Leighton Meester (Blair) and Blake Lively (Serena) is played out in the press like their fictional frenemy relationship on the show's Gossip Girl blog, almost entirely ignored is the backstage backstabbing going on among the guys.

Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick appears in this weekend's edition of high brow Page Six Magazine. And, yes, the 21-year old Brit addresses rumors that he and co-star Chace Crawford are gay lovers:

People think Chace is gay, and thought I was gay, that we were humping. It’s not true, but hilarious. People project their fantasies onto people. I’ve never been someone who makes it my objective to go out and pick up chicks. But I’ve met some fantastic ladies here. Ed Westwick took some tabloid ribbing earlier this week for being inseparable from his Gossip Girl cast mate and roomie Chace Crawford. The innuendo, of course, was that the boys are more than just friends.

The twosome showed up at a recent show by Brit popsters The Ting Tings, and a spy says "they were never more than a foot apart. It was freaky. If one moved two feet to the left, so did the other." We've been contacted by entertainment reporters - within days of each other - from the NY Post and the NY Daily News.

They both wanted to share a juicy piece of info - too juicy to print, they said.

Seems like on-set sources, which the pubs tell us are reliable, have told each paper that Chace Crawford and Gossip Girl co-star and real-life roommate Ed Westwick are in a relationship and not trying to hide it, at least on set.

Both NY papers tell us that Chace and Ed were recently seen kissing, open-mouthed on set (in Chace's trailer).

Gossip Girl actor and bushy-eyebrow sporting Chace Crawford's popularity threatens to destroy the show, the world and, yes, even the universe:

The show's men, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick, are battling over screen time and general media attention.

The problem? Audiences have gone gaga for Chace. The girls and the gays alike have brought the buzz his way, thanks to smoldering good looks and boyish charm.

"Penn was supposed to be the show's break-out star and now it is obviously Chace, and Penn doesn't like it," said one insider.

…Jealousy still reared its head Monday night at the Met's Costume Institute ball.

Both Penn and Chace walked the red carpet, but it was Chace who was mobbed - and (OMG) invited to George Clooney's after-party at Bungalow 8. To make matters worse, the king and queen of Hollywood, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, gushed all over him.

"Tom and Katie went up to Chace to say how much they love him and the show. They didn't talk to any of the other cast members," our spy snitched. "Penn didn't get any love."

Don't worry, Penn, you're still our favorite. Chace looks too slimy for our liking.
