Meanwhile, Thompson's fellow Republicans took some jabs at last night's Fox debates. Rudy Giuliani offered the hardest hit, saying:

I like Fred a lot. I think Fred is a really, really good man. I think he's done a pretty good job of playing my part on Law & Order. I personally prefer the real thing.

After months of swinging around the political arena, former Tennessee Senator turned actor Fred Thompson announced that he will run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Well, he sort of announced it.

In a conference call with elected officials and party leaders backing his bid, Thompson campaign manager Bill Lacy said Thompson has finished "testing the waters" and will file papers making his candidacy official next Thursday. Thompson will announce his decision on that day in a webcast

So, why not just say it now? Oh, right, because politicians love their dramatics.

• In case you didn't know, Siegfried and Roy are gay.

They just never came out. Las Vegas magicians Siegfried & Roy are coming out of the closet in a highly anticipated autobiography soon to be released. It may not come as a big surprise to most people that the two performers are gay but it will be the first time they admit to this officially.

According to details from the upcoming book leaked to the National Enquirer, Siegfried and Roy [were] once very much in love but have since transformed their relationship into a working partnership and a deep friendship.

Now that that's out of the way, we can all go on living our lives.

• Elton John reportedly had a royal breakdown after Prince Harry and Prince William's Concert for Diana. The singer got into with a police officer who ordered him to walk to the VIP area, rather than drive. John allegedly screamed,

Get out of my fucking way. Don't you know who I am? I've been working all fucking day and I need to get to my fucking dressing room.

Obviously Sir Elton is no lady. Nor does he get special privilege: he eventually walked.
