"…Two prominent West Michigan philanthropists are writing big checks to help keep it front and center. Holland resident Elsa Prince Broekhuizen [pictured] has pumped $450,000 into a Nov. 4 California ballot issue to ban gay marriage. It is one of the largest private donations to that cause. In Florida, protesters gathered last month at Amway Arena to decry $100,000 given by Amway Corp. co-founder Rich DeVos to Florida4Marriage, a group that supports a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage." Foreign-born "preachers of hate" and other violent extremists will have to prove they have publicly renounced their views or be refused entry to Britain under tough new rules unveiled today. Obviously "hate" can include homophobia, so Andy over at UK Gay News did a little digging and found that anti-gay preachers, like Fred Phelps, also face British banishment. |

Indiana's Democratic party has been taking a page from the right. While most of this electoral season's anti-gay rhetoric has come from the Republicans, the Hoosier State's Democrats decided to get nasty with a mailer sent out for state Representative Andy Schemenaur. The flier, which reads ""Faith & Family: A Hoosier Way of Life," touts Schemnaur's commitment to defending to so-called "sanctity of marriage." You know what that means: no nuptials for same-sex lovers. What a disgrace. [via Bilerico] |

It is a lavender-tinged dystopia, of course: The Bible can no longer be freely preached over radio or television stations when the subject matter includes such ‘offensive’ doctrines as criticizing homosexual behavior.” Well, if that's the case, we're definitely voting for Obama! |

"[A] survey of 6,209 middle and high school students found that nearly nine out of 10 LGBT students (86.2 percent) had experienced harassment at school in the past year. The survey also found that three-fifths (60.8 percent) felt unsafe at school because of their sexual orientation, and about one third (32.7 percent) skipped a day of school in the past month because they felt unsafe." Westboro Baptist Church has a hectic schedule! Not only will they be protesting Oklahoma State University's production of The Laramie Project, about the brutal anti-gay beating of Matthew Shepard, but the group will also head to Florida to participate in a debate on Amendment 2, which ban gay marriage and anything even remotely resembling gay marriage. According to that state's Republican party, "extreme liberals" are all backing potential state representative Kristy Manning because, as a Democrat, the politico will institute free-wheeling abortions, gay marriage and all sorts of other sick shit. The flier's but one in a series of anti-gay mailers that have gone out in recent weeks. Ohio's Republican party sent out two, while North Carolina's GOP recently attacked Senatorial hopeful Kay Hagan, whom they describe as an agent of the gay agenda. Funny - both the Democrats and Republican parties claim they'll bring real change to America, yet these state's Republican parties insist on inflaming the tired culture wars. [via Show Me Progress] |

Barber's latest tirade, however, may take the hyperbolic cake: If Bill Clinton was the first black president, Barack Obama, if elected, will be the first "gay" president. No, I don't mean he'll personally decorate the West Wing, open a bathhouse in the Rose Garden or take up with Barney Frank. I mean he'll be the most radically pro-homosexual, anti-family president in history. And if you need more proof of Barber's statements, look no further than this picture of Obama at gay pride. That's totally him. He's probably on some anti-straight crusade, or something… |

Most of their requests are pretty standard, like keeping marriage for heterosexuals and prohibiting gay adoption. Beyond that, however, things get pretty wild, like the use of public funds to "cure" the queers. From Gender Matters' website: To dispel the current confusion regarding gender issues, and to restore the proper understanding and appreciation of maleness and femaleness, and to protect our children from harm, the following is proposed as a guide to policy makers The group also wants schools to give little boys lessons on how to be masculine. Girls, meanwhile, would get lessons in being - well, girly. Also, all gay people will be terminated. Psych! Gender Matters didn't really ask for the mass murder of all the gays - but we bet they thought it! |

Just one week after Bishop Eria Paul Luzinda claimed greed breeds gays, the Independent newspaper ran an article insisting same-sex lovers are looking for new recruits. …The signs are there that homosexuality is growing in the Ugandan society. Between September 22 and 27, workshops were held at the Grand Imperial Hotel and at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. Both workshops were organized by the gay community in Uganda. At least once a month, a workshop of this nature is held in a different town somewhere in the country. Gasp! They're onto us! |

The Buckeye State's GOP this month sent out fliers claiming Democrat Ray Pryor would be bad for the state because he supports gay adoption. (They failed to mention, of course, that a number of high-ranking Republicans there agree with Pryor's politics.) Now, just two weeks before election day, the party has again used anti-gay tactics to drum up votes. In a mailer sent on behalf of State Congressional hopeful Michael Keenan, the GOP highlights their candidate's strong "family values" and unwavering religion. With all the muck being thrown around, one would think it's 2004. But, sadly, it is within Ohio's Republican party. Actually, it's probably closer to about 1982… |

"[W]hen we give up and we turn to the [homosexual] lifestyle, a lot of times there's some selfishness there that we take on, and we don't care who we hurt when we go into the lifestyle — because it's all about us." - Alleged "ex-gay" author Ken Jackson on the ridiculous "horrors" of being a homo. "Arsham Parsi, the well-known Iranian gay activist, has announced the launch of the Iranian Queer Railroad (IRQR), a new organization designed specifically to help the growing number of LGBT Iranians forced to leave their country by the violently homophobic policies of the ayatollahs' theocracy… Parsi said he and his organization are now in contact with 145 LGBT Iranian refugees currently in limbo and seeking permanent asylum… But, said Parsi, 'there are many, many more queer refugees from Iran who haven't yet been in contact with us and who also desperately need help.'"
