Homophobe General To Be Replaced
It's a banner day for the gays. First Isaiah Washington got booted from Grey's Anatomy. Now, Joint Chiefs Chief General Peter Pace - who infamously referred to gays as immoral - has been replaced in the Pentagon. From Think Progress: As an individual, I would not want [acceptance of gay behavior] to be our policy, just like I would not want it to be our policy that if we were to find out that so-and-so was sleeping with somebody else's wife, that we would just look the other way, which we do not. We prosecute that kind of immoral behavior. Schmuck… |

It's About Fucking Time!
Calls for Washington's dismissal started last year, when Washington inadvertently outed co-star TR Knight. ABC and Washington tried to turn the situation around, including Washington's absurd public service announcements with GLAAD and an ill-conceived "rehab", but it seems network executives weren't convinced. TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, who broke the story, reports: Multiple sources are telling me that Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy next season. An ABC Studios spokesperson confirms that the actor's contract option has not been picked up, but declined further comment. Washington has not released a statement. No doubt the Grey's set will be a better place to work. |

Apologized To Heigl After Anti-Gay Remarks
Isaiah thanked me, which I didn't understand. He was almost grateful. I don't know Isaiah well, but he takes his work seriously and he loves his character. We can't help but wonder what TR Knight has to say about this. And, more importantly, what Washington said to Knight after the infamous incident… |

Meanwhile, TMZ also has an uber-bizarro video of Bobby Trendy and an American Idol reject (aka one of Trendy's horrible homo spawn) fagging it up. Warning: this video is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, perfect for anyone looking to call someone a faggot. Isaiah Washington take note. Ch-ch-check it out, after the jump… |

No word on whether the public will buy it, but GLAAD has released the text from Washington's socially-conscious slot: Words have power. The power to express love, happiness and joy. They also have the power to heal. When you use words that demean a person because of their sexual orientation, race or gender, you send a message of hate. A very powerful message. But we all have the power to demand better from one another and from ourselves. We have the power to heal and change the world by the words we use. Of the PSA's, GLAAD president Neil Giuliano says, When Isaiah Washington lends his voice to that message — when he acknowledges the personal responsibility that he and each of us have to create a culture that rejects prejudice — it advances the kind of dialogue that’s absolutely essential to changing hearts and minds. But is Washington really taking personal responsibility or is he just delivering a publicist-endorsed message? Although, with rumors flying that Washington won't be returning to Grey's, he better take all the screen time he can get! |

Us quotes a proverbial insider: “He will not be back as a series regular". The actor - whose faggot flinging led Knight to come out of the closet - may appear in a few episodes. The article also claims that Knight didn't earn many friends during his two season stay on the set. Katherine Heigl, 28, said her costar “just needs to stop talking” after Washington used the f-word again at the January 15 Golden Globes, but the damage had been done. Washington's flacks deny the rumors and claimsthe actor's still a part of the Grey's team. The representative does concede, however, that they have yet to receive a contract. We're on the edge of our seats!!! Okay, not really, but we bet Washigton's shitting bricks… |

Our black sister Lauren Williams over at Stereohyped tipped us off to this Us Weekly "exclusive", which reads: Says an insider, “Isaiah is committed to making amends.” Well, we're just tickled a pretty shade of pink. Not only because we endorse rehabilitated, apologetic Washington's publicist-endorsed efforts - which we do, begrudgingly), but also in eager anticipation for the announcement itself. What the hell can he say? Something like, "It's not nice to call someone a faggot backstage" and then, "It's not nice to call someone a faggot at the Golden Globes"? Hopefully they've got good screen writer's. Also, we're so pleased to know that Washington and GLAAD's friendship lives on. Mazel to the t-o-v! |
