After a divorce saga that included rumors of sleeping with Alex Rodriguez, and what ultimately ended up with a quicky legal split, Madonna is wise to rapidly shift focus away from her personal affairs and on to something more … consumerist. Enter Louis Vuitton, which Ms. Sticky & Sweet is said to be shooting a campaign for, joining the ranks of Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, and Catherine Deneuve in the brand's relaxed-yet-stylized campaign.

Former Soviet Union President Mikhail S. Gorbachev landed a new gig: Louis Vuitton model!! NY Times' Eric Wilson explains:

The Vuitton ad, however, is part of a campaign to emphasize the company’s heritage in luggage and travel accessories. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, the ads include other celebrities using Vuitton bags: Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf cuddling in a hotel room, their bags not yet unpacked; Catherine Deneuve resting on a trunk in front of a steaming locomotive; and Mr. Gorbachev in the back of a car with a duffel bag on the seat next to him. Of the group, Mr. Gorbachev appears the least comfortable. He is holding on to a door handle, as if the bag contained polonium 210.

This isn't Gorbachev's first foray into the wild world of advertising. The 76-year old Nobel Peace Prize winner formerly appeared in a Pizza Hut commercial. His modeling career's obviously moving in the right direction.

As Wilson points out, however, L'Oreal probably won't be courting Gorbachev, nor his legendary birthmark. Unless it's for a new cover up, perhaps…

Mariah Carey Louis Vuitton

Having lost twenty or so pounds over the last few months, Mariah Carey is looking good for a drag queen, though we doubt she ever stopped loving herself. Supposedly she caught the eye of the powers-that-be at Louis Vuitton while lying among their trademark trunks in a bikini for a music video shoot. He just thought she looked so… thin. And her boobs looked so… weird, but in a fashiony way. And well, she's thoroughly Emancipated Mimi; who can compete with that? Perhaps Lindsay Lohan should be worried for her future with the fickle Frenchman.

Uma Thurman Louis Vuitton

Uma Thurman's androgynous alien beauty has always enraptured us, but it is her effortless presence and class (two things that are becoming increasingly rare in Hollywood) that earn her a real place in our hearts. She was by far our favorite of Louis Vuitton's recent ad campaign models, and remains one of our favorite all-around lady celebrities. This is due in part to her kicking lots of ass in the Kill Bill movies, and her outfit at the Oscars this year, which made us tack on a few extra inches to her pedestal.

Womens Wear Daily hinted last week that the newest addition to Louis Vuitton's celebrity lineup will be teen queen Lindsay Lohan, and the rumor has gained momentum over the last few days. A source close to Lindsay told Star, "It's not been officially announced yet, but she's definitely landed the job."

Not only has she landed the job, but secret test shots were already taken and leaked, and we have them in our hot little hands. Behold, the new face of the world's most famous luxury brand:
