John McCain and his campaign are about to be getting all sorts of gay press.

Blogger Mike Rogers appeared on Michelangelo Signorile's radio show today to reveal that Mark Buse, Senator McCain's chief-of-staff, goes for the guys.

Why is this a big deal? Well, first and foremost, McCain's running with ardently anti-gay Sarah Palin, a woman who scares us more than killer drag queens from outer space.

Also, there's McCain kissing social conservative butt in exchange for electoral love.

Michael Rogers sits down with Jossip. Sample: "I think that Larry Craig should be held accountable to the fact that he deceived the American people. He’s such a mess psychologically that he probably doesn’t belong in the U.S. Senate." Unfortunately the same could probably be said for a number of our elected officials. Sigh…

Analyze Senator's Self Image

It's been 366 days since blogger Michael Rogers first outed Larry Craig. And, as we all know, a lot's gone down in that year, particularly Craig's alleged toilet trolling and subsequent arrest.

Rogers sat down with MSNBC's Chris Matthews yesterday to discuss Craig's arrest, the Matt Lauer interview and Craig's "continued manufacturing of soundbites". With regard to Craig's repressed homosexuality, Rogers says, "He's unable to stand up and be proud and honest and open about who he is and that is something he helped create." And now his creation's turned on him.

Funny how that happens.

• Openly gay Representative Tammy Baldwin on ENDA:

I have always been a strong supporter of guaranteeing full civil rights for all in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. My work on this issue will continue until these protections become law.

I am under no illusions about the challenges of achieving our goal. But, the quest for advancement of civil rights in our nation has
never been easy. It is precisely because of the discrimination these groups experience that this legislation is needed.

Baldwin's far ballsier than fellow homo-politico Barney Frank.

Angry Gay Left Blew Up Spot

smallgannon-1.jpg
Former prostitute turned conservative press mole Jeff Gannon's new book doesn't have any steamy stories of late night romps. In fact, Gannon insists rumors of his sexual ways are greatly exaggerated:

Gannon resigned as White House correspondent from the conservative Talon News in 2005 amid charges of right-wing bias, inexperience and salacious accusations about his personal life. In the book, he admits nothing, referring only to his “perceived sexuality” and “photographs said to be me in various states of undress.”

“In actuality,” he writes, “my personal life was dull compared to the fantasy world created by the Angry Gay Left.”

"Perceived sexuality"? What about when Gannon reportedly came out to Michael Rogers:

When questioned if he was gay, Gannon said he "was a member of this community."

Rogers went farther: "Are you a gay man?"

"Absolutely," Gannon said.

Perhaps "perceived" doesn't have a bipartisan definition.

• Worst opening to a Larry Craig story ever?

If nothing else, Sen. Larry Craig defies our impulsive hetero stereotype of gay men as frail, prissy little things flitting around like butterflies on a hydrangea bush.

That's quite a specific stereotype.

• There's something rotten in the state of YouTube: the mega site's apparently censoring gay kissing, but allows videos of gay bashing. WTF?!

Michael Rogers, the blogger who first outed Larry Craig, appeared on Fox's Hannity & Colmes last night.

Watch as Sean Hannity gets his panties in a twist over the so-called "double standard" over Bill Clinton and Barney Frank's respective sexual screw-ups. Rogers, of course, disagrees, pointing out that Congress impeached Clinton.

When asked whether Craig should resign, Rogers replies: "I think that’s really up to the voters of Idaho. But I also think to look at the party, and the party has hung him out to dry." Hannity, meanwhile, looks like he wants to hang Craig out to dry.

No doubt Larry Craig spent much of this long-weekend in hiding. The man behind his downfall, however, has been thrust into the spotlight.

Blogactive's Michael Rogers started the ball rolling last October, when he "outed" Craig. Picking up on the story, Idaho Statesman started its controversial investigation into Craig's extracurricular activities.

Though neither broke the story, Rogers definitely deserves a little attention. And he got it when Washington Post's Jose Antonio Vargas sat him down for a chat.
