Matthews: Romney Politics Depend on "Geography"

Will 'Meet The Press' Appearance Sink Campaign?
First Matt LaBarbera came out against Republican Romney, calling his pussy-footing a "Christmas present" for the gays. LaBarbera said such a stance "disqualifies him as a pro-family leader". Now Renew America pundit Grant Swank's making a similar argument… |
|
Will Civil Union "Support" Sink Endorsements?
Apparently LaBarbera objects Romney's recent appearance on NBC's Meet The Press, during which the Republican said state-based gay laws "make more sense" than a federal law. LaBarbera took this soft line to mean Mitt supports the "gay agenda": Mitt Romney's Christmas present to the homosexual lobby disqualifies him as a pro-family leader. Laws that treat homosexuality as a civil right are being used to promote homosexual 'marriage,' same-sex adoption and pro-homosexuality indoctrination of schoolchildren. These same laws pose a direct threat to the freedom of faith-minded citizens and organizations to act on their religious belief that homosexual behavior is wrong. See, Mitt? That's what you get when you try to play both for both teams. |

We're Sure He's Heartbroken...
Entitled "Mitt Romney Should Not Be President," the piece revolves around Romney's historic flip-flops: If you followed only his tenure as governor of Massachusetts, you might imagine Romney as a pragmatic moderate with liberal positions on numerous social issues and an ability to work well with Democrats. If you followed only his campaign for president, you'd swear he was a red-meat conservative, pandering to the religious right, whatever the cost. Pay attention to both, and you're left to wonder if there's anything at all at his core. Romney's handsome but misguided spokesman Kevin Madden dismissed the "liberal" editors. (P.S. Did anyone else see Chris Matthews drill Madden about Romney's MLK lie? It's beautiful!) |

Fashion Over Function?
Things got pretty heated at HK Lounge on 39th St last Friday when porn King Michael Lucas, on top of the bar and in the full monty, realized the shirt he threw into the crowd during his strip tease was his Marc Jacobs shirt, designed specifically for him from his designer friend. Lucas, you truly are a pillar of this community. Bravo. We've included the Gigolo trailer after the jump. We dedicate it to Mitt Romney. |

» Dissecting Mike Huckabee's Gay Politics
The Advocate gets in on the fun with a comprehensive look at the Southern Baptist's historically anti-gay stands. Taking a closer look, however, and Huckabee may not be as conservative as he'd like voters to believe. Professor Jay Barth tells Bernice Yeung that while Huckabee supported anti-gay marriage legislation, he did not lead the charge: He now really does tout the fact that he was leading the charge for a marriage amendment for Arkansas, but that’s just not accurate. The record indicates he supported it, but he was not leading the charge. Those who were leading the charge were those who were actually saying that Huckabee was not conservative enough; it was a moment of interparty politics. Mitt Romney should put that on a postcard and mail it around Iowa. That'll thin out Huckabee's ranks a little - and further split the Grand Old Party. |
|
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney just launched a fresh round of ads. The 30-second slot will air in Iowa ahead of the caucuses and celebrates Romney's flagrant disregard for liberalism and his staunch support of marriage, even when it's not "politically correct". If he's so disinterested in being politically correct, why does he keep correcting his political standings to pander for votes? |

"Freedom Requires Religion."
Freedom requires religion just as religion requires freedom. Freedom opens the windows of the soul so that man can discover his most profound beliefs and commune with God. Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone. Read the entire text after the jump…. |

Fmr. NYC Mayor Most Like NY Senator
Mormon Mitt first said that the Republicans must nominate someone "who can distinguish himself on family values" from Democrat Hillary Clinton In addition to advising his GOP peers, Romney took aim at Rudy Giuliani: I believe it's important for someone to be pro-life, to be pro-family and pro-traditional marriage, to be in favor of legal immigration but against illegal immigration and to have a record of insisting on the highest ethical standards, and I'm afraid that on all four of those measures that Mayor Giuliani would be the wrong course for our party. He is in the same position as Hillary Clinton on life and on marriage and on the ethical history of his administration, and also on sanctuary cities and immigration policy. Giuliani replied by questioning Romney's gubernatorial accomplishments and, of course, celebrating his own mayoral track record: "I can certainly make the claim quite accurately at being the most successful at reducing crime of any mayor in the country, probably in history." Giuliani did not, however, explain how he dealt with all the homeless people and drug addicts, a massive disappearance that remains one of the greatest mysteries in history. |
