Plus: 2 out of 10 Americans view gays more favorably than they did 10 years ago
QUEERTY REPORTS — "The losses we suffered are political, which are not as predictable as poll results are– or as manageable", Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) President Neil Giuliano told Queerty this afternoon after the release of a GLAAD-commissioned Harris Interactive survey that showed widespread support for gay & lesbian rights and issues across a variety of demographics. The telephone survey, which reached a little over 2,000 Americans after the election last month, showed that three out of four Americans support either civil unions or marriages for gays and lesbians and that for the first time, opposition against gay marriage fell below the 50% mark. Support for repealing the military's Don't Ask-Don't Tell policy is even more widespread at 64%, with support in Latino support for overturning the ban especially high. African Americans supported increasing hate crimes legislation to include LGBT people by the widest margin, at 71%. The survey also found that 7 in 10 Americans oppose gay adoption bans. GLAAD Doesn't Think That's Rad
You'll recall that the right-wing authoress took a shot at Edwards last year, when she called the politico a "faggot." Well, Coulter has done it again, this time calling him "faggy" while discussing his alleged affair. Said Coulter: I just think John Edwards is an incredibly creepy individual and the very definition of faggy, with his whole two Americas — and remember when he was campaigning, one of his big things, oh, how people are so poor and they can't, they're starving at night, and, you know, he met a woman who couldn't buy a winter coat for her children… [He's] just, you know, living in this, like, Dickensian England that does not exist in America, and acting like you're the only person who cares. |

Caan Apologizes For Faggot Slip
TMZ caught the actor's tacky rant yesterday, when Caan said, I saw you shooting me while I was eating a cheeseburger. Fucking jack-off. I'll give you a thousand dollars to come fight me, how about that? $2000. $2500. Ten grand if you'll fight me. Get a real job, you faggot. Though GLAAD president Neil Giuliano sympathized with Caan's plight, he and his were deeply offended by his "dehumanizing remarks". As if paparazzi are human! Fearing the gay wrath, Caan readily agreed to issue his personal apologies through his personal publicist: I am sorry for using such a derogatory word. I was being harassed by a paparazzi and, unfortunately, the word slipped out. I don't ever condone the use of that word and I deeply apologize to anyone whom I may have offended. Yes, but did you apologize to the poor, defenseless paparazzo? [Image] |

In Trans-it To Arizona?
Rumor has it that Susan Stanton - formerly known as Largo city manager Steve Stanton - applied to manage Tempe, Arizona's city council. Tempe officials would not confirm Stanton is a job candidate because they are not disclosing any names except the finalists. Multiple attempts to reach Stanton were unsuccessful. Several City Hall sources identified her as an applicant. Unlike Largo, which fired Stanton after she announced her sex change, Tempe welcomes trans folk with open arms. It's one of the three cities in the state which protects trannies from discrimination, reports The Arizona Republic. The nearly 170,000-strong city also boasts another gay activist: Neil Giuliano serves as mayor for ten years before moving on to GLAADer pastures. |
