Sorry, Out, HX and Next, but British fag rag Attitude's playful swimsuit spread beats you all hands down. There's nothing more attractive than a sense of humor - and blow-up saxophones!

The next issue of New York fag rag Next will be absolutely bursting with taut crotches as the boys celebrate swimsuit season.

In fact, photographer Gerardo Somoza and stylist Chad Thompson compiled such a wide selection that they sent us over some shots that didn't make it into the wet and wild edition.

It's Hard Out There...

Now that Next EIC Justin Ocean's jumping ship to head The Out Traveler, the weekly fag rag's looking for a new leader.

The New York-based magazine's publishers recently put an ad on Media Bistro and the job description includes this queer stipulation: "Must have ability to juggle extreme personalities of nightlife scene and advertisers."

"Extreme personalities" must be the polite way of saying, "Self-important, possibly drugged up diva fags from hell."

Editor Has No Idea Who's Next At 'Next'

Justin Ocean knows us so well!

Last year we blew up the homo-journo's spot when he took over as editor of weekly fag rag Next. He and his staffers retaliated by circulating an uproarious press release. Well, to avoid any such scandals this year, Ocean confirmed rumors that he has been tapped to take over The Out Traveler:

Yes, official as of today, in mid January I'm leaving Next to take over the editor position at The Out Traveler. No drama or anything behind the decision; just a great opportunity that I couldn't pass up. I've freelanced for The Out Traveler and Gay.com/Planetout.com for the past few years so it's always been a direction I was interested in moving, even though I wasn't actively seeking a new job.

Despite its share of hefty moments, Next has been a ton of fun and an amazing, fulfilling place to work and really flex some creativity. I think over the past year my co-workers and pack of contributors and I have really upped the ante of what a fag rag can be, and I expect that whoever takes my place is going to continue that growth. Who that is… Don't know yet! The publisher and I are talking about candidates and looking around. Applications are being accepted.

Current print editor Matt Link apparently wants to spend more time on book projects or something…

Congratulations, Ocean! We know you've been around the block a few times, so we're sure your extensive experience will come in handy!

Are We Too Sensitive To "Anti-Gay" Sentiments?

We live in a new era, readers. The once-ubiquitous inquiry "But is it art" has been replaced by "But is it homophobic?"

Lance Bass may be the more famous of the "friendly" couple, but Pedro Andrade definitely has some talents. Aside from flashing his pearlies on Next magazine, the New York-based model appears in Australian-born filmmaker Jarrah Gurrie's new short film, Compassionist.

Above you'll see Andrade playing a tortured, lonely artist who finds a creative way of filling his bed. Hopeful Bass doesn't get too jealous about fantasy.

Compassionist ain't Gurrie's first work. He also lent his skills to gay British rapper Q-Boy's "Q.B.O.Y. Is So Fly" music video, a video for Aussie songster Rhys Ripper and a number of other short films. Check out his website and his YouTube gallery. Oh, and we've included his video for The Rumours' "Inside/Outside". After the jump, natch.

While some fag rag's celebrate pride with a party guide, booze cruise or advice on how to neatly fit that rainbow flag up your ass, New York's Next's looking to change the game a bit. Or, rather, a lot.

Online dating service Chemistry.com isn't backing down from eHarmony.com's lawerly threats. The brouhaha began last month after Barry Diller's Chemistry.com started running television and print ads taking on the eHarmony's gay ban.

Founded by Focus on The Family ally and James Dobson pal, Dr. Neil Clark Warren, eHarmony insists they don't discriminate against gays because they disapprove, but because their patented psychological tests aren't calibrated for the queer mind. Oh, and then there's the whole no gay marriage thing - eHarmony boasts its marriage-oriented goals. Since gays can't marry, well, eHarmony can't invite them into the not-so-loving fold. Discrimination sure is convenient, huh?

It certainly is for Chemistry.com's advertising agents, who concocted the aforementioned ads to prove their gay worth. And they're certainly getting in the thick of the gays this and next weekend: the company's booked two ads in New York fag rag, Next. Something tells us eHarmony hasn't booked any space in the weekly's pages. Perhaps they're too busy fending off lesbian Linda Carlson's discrimination lawsuit. Will eHarmony's anti-gay tenacity take them down? We fucking hope so.

• First Arrested Development. Now no more Martha! We are mourning our favorite shows today.

• Claims are being made out of Britain that a man who once tested positive for HIV is now negative. He refuses to further testing.

• An interview in the new Next states that as many as “40 to 45 percent of gay men in lower Manhattan under 40 are HIV-positive.” Holy shit. Via BitchLess Blog.

Sprite sent us a quick note about our Morning Goods today. “Boys, I'm sure I'm like the millionth fag to alert you, but you're Morning Goods boy Clinton Huff is one of the "straight boys" on AmateurStraightGuys.com. I know my porn and trust me, I've seen him in like 5 videos there. He's Trevor over there." Time to sign up for a membership!

• Straight women feel the same way as us about Madge. And for pretty much the same reasons.
