New York Governor Eliot Spitzer just resigned following his hooker scandal. Lt. Gov. David Paterson will take over on Monday. He told the people that he always expected politicians to live by their word, and he should be no different. We didn't catch the speech, but WNYC reports that nasty NY Post reporter Andrea Peyser called out to First Lady Silda Spitzer, "Are you going to leave him?" People were apparently aghast. [WNYC]

The homo media watchdogs over at GLAAD ain't happy with the NY Post. They're demanding Rupert Murdoch's tab-rag remove the "Evil Lesbian Mom" headline. This is just one battle in the seemingly endless war of words.

Rupert Murdoch's New York Post can't quit it's homophobic ways. The daily featured a story yesterday entitled, "Evil Lesbian Mom Left Toddler To Die: DA". Classy!

Heed GLAAD's Call

In a shocking show of soul, the NY Post's Page Six apologized for its trans-insensitivity.

In an item about There’s Something About Miriam, a Fox reality show about a transsexual woman, the Rupert Murdoch owned paper described the titular character as a "she-male". GLAAD called them out and editor Richard Johnson originally replied, "You’re kidding me, aren’t you? I would have used ‘chick with a dick’ but we’re as [sic] family newspaper.”

Apparently Johnson had a change of heart: .

…We erred yesterday in referring to a pre-op transsexual as "a she-male" - a term GLAAD informs us is "a dehumanizing slur." We apologize to any and all we may have offended.

Next step: vocabulary lesson.

Rosie O'Donnell didn't have much to say about Britney Spears' baby drama. A confused looking Roseanne Barr, meanwhile, plans to give the pop tart a call, "I think she needs a mother. She needs help".

GLAAD takes on NY Post, again:

The Post's Oct. 4 edition contained a Page Six item about an upcoming dating show on Fox Reality Channel (also a News Corporation property) called There’s Something About Miriam. The item referred to Miriam, a transgender woman from Mexico, using the slur “she-male.”

GLAAD contacted Page Six editor Richard Johnson this morning to discuss the description of Miriam. His e-mailed response read, “You're kidding me, aren't you? I would have used ‘chick with a dick’ but we're as [sic] family newspaper.”

Yeah, right.

What Is Flamboyant?

outvenndiagram.jpg
The Out kids have Venn diagram fever, too!

The gay glossy scoured the past year's worth of The NY Post to find all the people labeled "flamboyant", one of the tab-rag's favorite gay synonyms. As you can see, the Rupert Murdoch doesn't seem to know the meaning of "flamboyant". Good thing the Out staffers did their job for them.

Lesson learned: not all gays are flamboyant, nor are all flamboyant folk gay. And, what's more, the magazine discovered a new species: the flamgay.

The New York Post's famously homophobic Sean Delonas offers this punchline for the Knicks sexual harassment scandal.

Now, we're not the biggest Rosie O'Donnell fans, but this is just fucked up. Sure, she's a big girl, but seriously…

The New York Post got itself a new gay nemesis over the weekend. NY Times' perfume critic Chandler Burr doesn't take too kindly to the tab-rag's description of Out magazine.

In a blurb on Danny Fields' frivolous lawsuit against Out , Page Six describes the glossy as a "gay lifestyle mag". Homo-journo Burr took offense and penned a note to the Posters. In his missive, Burr - whom the perpetually confused Post describes as "flamboyant" - writes,

Using the expression 'gay lifestyle' is not just idiotic, it's empirically wrong. There is no 'gay lifestyle.' There's homosexuality, the sexual orientation, and there's heterosexuality, the sexual orientation. But 'gay lifestyle' is a purely political term with a purely political meaning, and it's simply, factually inaccurate.

Jeff Bercovici Gets Gay Back Up

GLAAD answered Jeff Bercovici's call for action against the NY Post:

[GLAAD] today called on the New York Post to apologize for and disassociate itself from its use of an anti-gay slur in today's edition.

On Sept. 7, the Post ran an item repeating rumors and innuendo speculating about the owner of an explicit online profile. The item used the term "toe-tapper" as a description of gay men: "The photos on the site do not show the fellow's face, but the profile does feature pictures of a toe-tapper posing naked in various positions, including full frontal."

The New York Post's use of "toe-tapper" as a slur to disparage gay men is only the latest episode in the tabloid's long history of offensive content — including the defamatory anti-gay AIDS coverage in the 1980s that led to GLAAD's founding.

"Whatever nostalgia the Post has for the prejudices and stereotypes of the 1980s, it really needs to outgrow them — or a least stop acting them out in public," said GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano.

Word. Maybe NY Post needs to find a nice, private bathroom stall…
