» DNC Debated Peter Pace Response
Democratic National Committee's press man and Chief of Staff debated how to respond to Peter Pace's "immoral" comments about homosexuality: "In the protracted e-mail exchange obtained by the Blade, [Damien] LaVera and [Leah] Daughtry advocate for sending a statement only to reporters working for gay press and keeping any mention of it off the DNC web site. They also oppose sending the statement to mainstream news wires. That way, the DNC can have it both ways — placating the gays with a toothless statement while ensuring that any faintly pro-gay statements don’t gain traction or visibility in mainstream media." Jeez, can't any of our political parties just take a fucking stand for equality, justice and civility?! [Washington Blade] |

The Army, Navy and Air Force unwittingly advertised for recruits on a website for gays, who are barred from military service if they are open about their sexual orientation. Oh, please! GLEE's so tame. We'd love to hear what Baptista has to say about us. |

Jason Knight Sees Shift, Need For More Change
During a Congressional hearing this week, Harkin called Pace's comments "hurtful" and gave the military man some time to clear his anti-gay name. Though he maintained homosexuality's so-called immorality, Pace did concede that gay men and women serve integral roles in our military. "Are there wonderful Americans who happen to be homosexual serving in the military? Yes." |

Here's the video of Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa blasting outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Peter Pace. Watch as Harkin defends gays and Pace again voices his opposition to same-sex relations. |

Anti-War Protesters Call Pace "Bigot"
Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, caused a stir at a Senate hearing Wednesday when he repeated his view that gay sex is immoral and should not be condoned by the military. Anti-war protesters raised their voices to call Pace a bigot, while Senator Tom Harkin called Pace's comments "hurtful". When Pace noted that the military code forbids homosexuality, Harkin said, "Well, then, maybe we should change that." |

And Paris Stole The Show...
• The 20 most rockin' moments in gay rock history! • Barack Obama has something to say about Surgeon General nominee and noted homophobe, Dr. James Holsinger. And it ain't nice: America’s top doctor should be a doctor for all Americans, and so I have serious reservations about nominating someone who would inject his own anti-gay ideology into critical decisions about the health and well-being of our nation," Obama said this morning. "As with other nominees, I will listen to the testimony of Dr. James Holsinger, but this Administration must know that the United States Surgeon General’s office is no place for bigotry or ideology that would trump sound science and good judgment. Word. Fellow Democrat and presidential candidate Christopher Dodd also voiced his concern, "I fear that Dr. Holsinger's previous comments and actions will prevent him from representing each and every individual." Now, how long until Hillary Clinton says something? • OMG! It's Los Angeles Pride!!! • Robbie Williams gets sweaty. |

Homophobe General To Be Replaced
It's a banner day for the gays. First Isaiah Washington got booted from Grey's Anatomy. Now, Joint Chiefs Chief General Peter Pace - who infamously referred to gays as immoral - has been replaced in the Pentagon. From Think Progress: As an individual, I would not want [acceptance of gay behavior] to be our policy, just like I would not want it to be our policy that if we were to find out that so-and-so was sleeping with somebody else's wife, that we would just look the other way, which we do not. We prosecute that kind of immoral behavior. Schmuck… |
