The North Carolina congressional candidate, who's running against homo-politico Jim Neal for the Democratic nomination, recently revamped her website, which apparently needed some ruby slippers. She's obviously using the subtle Oz reference to woo the lavender vote. We gays simply can't resist Dorothy. (Actually, by a stroke of queer coincidence, we're listening to The Wiz soundtrack right now. Be a lion!) In related news, Hagan and Neal will have a live debate this Friday. Neal's supporters, meanwhile, are looking for people who want to host Jim Neal house parties. They're doing a massive fundraising push on April 6th, one month ahead of the election. The candidate will also get on the horn to spread his good word. Click here for more information. |

We've got a total thing for The Wiz. It's actually kind of sick: we play the musical's soundtrack at least three times a week. How can we not? It's fucking fantastic! The Broadway soundtrack's definitely superior, but unfortunately clips are scarce on YouTube and had to turn to the screen adaptation. Hopefully you can cope with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross singing "Ease On Down The Road". And, after the jump, you can find Ross going "Home" as well as the entire cast enjoying a "Brand New Day". You better believe it! |

The Gulf has seen a few bitches drop by lately. Katrina, Rita, and, now Wilma have blown through town faster than Coke into Boy George’s nose. But one fabo hellcat to come out of that region is Nicole Dubois, the newly crowned Miss Gay America. We wouldn’t be performing our queer duty if we went one day longer by failing to acknowledge Ms. Dubois’ win in this past weekend’s pageant. Miss Gay America is the country’s longest running drag queen pageant. Miss America ain’t got nothing on these ladies. Where else will you had find a contestant named Pork Chop and another singing a Diana Ross tune from The Wiz? But the crown couldn’t have gone to a more deserving woman. See, Katrina destroyed the smashing Ms. Dubois’ Gulfport, Mississippi home. A runner-up last year, Nicole’s web site boasts she is known for her “quick wit,” “rhinestones, and cosmetics.” We expect nothing less from our reigning drag queens. Congrats. |
