» "Tragedy"?

The ever-petulant Bill O'Reilly and his Fox News colleague, Bernard Goldberg can't stomach pregnant trans man Thomas Beatie. Goldberg described the gender-bending scenario as a "tragedy" and O'Reilly lamented, "You imagine a poor kid getting born into that family going, 'Hey…whoa. Who are you today?'" Okay, so who wants to play a game of nature versus nurture? [Media Matters]

Thomas Beatie caused quite a stir when he penned his Advocate admission: he's a trans man with child. Yesterday's Oprah appearance, however, will only amplify the national spotlight. And, of course, bring out haters like Joe Scarborough and, by the looks of this message board, Oprah's viewers.

Joe Scarborough can expect some angry letters! The Republican politico turned MSNBC host shocked and awed on his MSNBC show, Morning Joe when he derided pregnant trans man Thomas Beatie. A blogger by the name of Scandalous Candice passes on her account of the incident:

[Joe and his colleagues, Mika Brzezinski and Wilie Geist] reported on Thomas Beatie, the transgendered male who is having a baby. I admit that this is an unusual story. But they put the story in what they call an useless news category “News You Can’t Use” and proceeded to make fun of them and call the couple “disgusting” and make “ewww” sounds.

The also called it “garbage” and [said] “people don’t want to wake up to this crap.” That was quoted by Mika Brzezinski. Joe used the story to lead into the next story by saying “this is probably why 81% of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.” A poll reported by the New York Times.

In an effort to right this fucked up wrong, Candice penned a letter to MSNBC demanding a full apology for the "foul and juvenile" remarks. She's also contacted GLAAD and other rabble-rousers to put some pressure on Scarborough and his team.

Update: Watch the video, after the jump. We're especially upset with Mika's comment: "don't want to know the deal. I don't want to hear. I'm gonna be sick. I'm gonna be sick. I am upset. That was not only stupid and useless, but quite frankly, disgusting." We're not sure why, but we expected better.

Thomas Beatie's got some balls. No, not literally, but you've got to give him credit for telling all on Oprah. Yeah, the pregnant trans man made a splash with his Advocate admission, but nothing compares to the attention he'll receive after this appearance.

Above you'll see Beatie and his wife, Nancy discussing the insemination process, sound effects and all. More impressively, Nancy's grown daughters praise Nancy and Thomas as nuptial role models who are "regular" and "very much in love." Oprah approves, of course. Will her viewers?

After the jump, the couple talks being rejected by nine doctor. Their current doctor, meanwhile, describes Thomas' pregnancy as "average."

What's with these late night jokesters? First we had Jay Leno's Ryan Phillippe moment. Now we hear that David Letterman had a laugh at pregnant trans man Thomas Beatie last night, including referring to him as an "androgynous freak show." There's a reason why we don't watch this shit…

» Beatie On Oprah!

Pregnant trans man Thomas Beatie will appear on this Thursday's Oprah, which is kind of the best thing that could ever happen to anyone trying to spread a message. [Willamette Week]

"Pregnant trans man" Thomas Beatie will reportedly hold a press conference tomorrow, April Fool's Day. We're going to be totally disappointed if this has been some sort of sham. [Guanabee]

This one's sure to fuck with the social conservatives.

A totally awesome trans man named Thomas Beatie successfully conceived a child, which he'll raise with his wife, Nancy. Though certainly an incredible turn of events, not everyone's reactions are encouraging:

Doctors have discriminated against us, turning us away due to their religious beliefs. Health care professionals have refused to call me by a male pronoun or recognize Nancy as my wife. Receptionists have laughed at us. Friends and family have been unsupportive; most of Nancy’s family doesn’t even know I’m transgender.

Well, those who don't sure will now.
