Those Scientologists sure are sneaky.

Members of the "religion's" Toronto branch used the city's gay pride celebrations to disseminate their out-of-this world holy word, The Dianetics, which equates same-sex desire with mental illness and advocates reparative therapy for those afflicted with the gay. Of course, we shouldn't be surprised by such activities - some say the group offed founder L. Ron Hubbard's son for being bent.

Before you get too worried about susceptible homos, however, rest assured that the anti-Scientological activists of Anonymous Toronto were on hand to thwart the group's evil deeds. And, apparently forgetting their harmonious public image, the Scientologists got nasty - and a bit violent - with the activists.

An Anonymous member sent over an explanatory video on Scientology's anti-gay agenda and some footage from the pride battles, including when Scientological leader Yvette Shank telling the activists "we can find out where you live." Eeks!

Watch it, after the jump.

» Gay Iranian "Speaks" Out

Hungry, hungry Medhi ain't the only Iranian exile with a tale to tell. "Sepehr" penned a letter and sent it to the Iranian Queer Organisation in Toronto. It's the must-read of the morning! [UK Gay News]

Research Links Hands, Head and Heredity

Gay people may be defined by their brains. And, no, we're not talking about blow-jobs.

New research out of Toronto suggests a link between the size of a male subject's posterior corpus callosum, which connects the left and right brain, to his sexuality. And, what's more, their genetic make-up.

A neuroscientist named Sanda Witelson previously proved that gays are more likely to be left-handed than their hetero counterparts. Another Witelson-helmed study showed that left-handed people have a larger posterior corpus callosum. Taken together, these findings have led Witelson in a surprising and potentially telling new direction…

Elephant Man's Toronto Appearance Monitored

elephantman.jpg
Elephant Man better watch his mouth. The famously anti-gay singer - born O'Neil Bryan - will be performing in Toronto Friday. And police are going to be listening to every line:

Toronto police will monitor [Elepant Man] after receiving complaints that the performer incites anti-gay violence through his music.

"Their lyrics, in my opinion, do tend to step over the line in regards to hate propaganda and advocating harm to one of the identified groups," said Det. Gary McQueen, of the hate crimes unit.

A spokeman for Bryan's Toronto host, The Kool Haus on Queens Quay, also condemned the singers' anti-gay lyrics but said its hands were tied because of contractual agreements with both performers.

"I am a million per cent against lyrics that promote hatred against gays and lesbians, women, religions and races," Kool Haus CEO Charles Khabouth said… "Had I been aware of the nature of the lyrics, I wouldn't have allowed the booking."

The Stop Murder Music campaign spearheaded the action, as they did in Brooklyn earlier this year.

Ask and ye shall receive! Toronto blogger Donald provided us with some great photos from Saturday's Dyke March, which we had hoped to attend, but ended up missing. It looks pretty much like we expected it to be: naked boobs everywhere. See them all after the jump.

It was a perfect day on Sunday for Toronto Pride, which, with an estimated 1.2 million attendees, was the largest Pride celebration in Canada and one of the largest in North America. The parade down Yonge St. had a nice mix of colorful queens, community groups, shirtless guys of all shapes and sizes, and lots of house and dance hall beats. And let's not forget the Super Soakers. We managed to protect our camera from the water gun toters long enough to snap some photos of the parade, which you can check out after the jump.

We also wandered around the festival along Church St. (the Toronto Gay Village) and saw some interesting characters, including some gay mounties. We're sorry we missed the Dyke Parade on Saturday, but we were still nursing a hangover from Friday night. If anybody has photos, please send them in!

Our day ended at Big Primpin's "Get Busted" party at the Courthouse, where we danced away every last drop of energy that hadn't been sapped by sun, beer gardens, and crazy queens.

Lola Toronto

Last night we went to Bruce LaBruce's French Exit party at the Drake Hotel in Toronto. Aside from the annoying straight girls swing dancing in the middle of the floor, we had a nice night, complete with a delicious, free cheese plate and top-notch entertainment from Canadian trannie sensation Lola who was dancing with a green light sabre and some fag with sunglasses.

What a little coquette she was, tossing her black feather boa around the necks of unsuspecting party-goers. The last time we saw Lola was in last year's Toronto Gay Pride parade where she was wearing nothing but a pink tutu and some balloons. See a couple more photos from last night's party after the jump.
