Maine-based activists produced this "no faggots allowed" poster to highlight the American Red Cross' ban on gay blood donors.

As I posted on Towleroad, the American Red Cross isn't at fault here. To my knowledge, they legally cannot accept blood from sexually active gay donors because of the Food and Drug Administration's policy. The Red Cross has been trying to get this policy changed, so these posters seem to be attacking the wrong group here…
See article here: http://www.gaypeopleschronicle.....317062.htm
^^^ Don't agree. It's not targeting the Red Cross, but the policy. I think it's neat.
There would be NO BLOOD donated if every at risk group was banned from donating.
we are all at risk
I thought it was an ad for Andrew Christian underwear. Doh!
Perhaps we should be criticizing the Red Cross for its failure to properly screen the blood that it does accept, and then traffics to patients through transfusions:

David's right. The policy, whether mandated by the FDA or not, needs to go but its presence doesn't negate the fact that their inadequate screening process allows them to accept tainted blood.
The ban obviously doesn't make sense any more and it's clearly being kept in place by homophobic and ignorant people. Even Russia has lifted the ban, and Russia certainly didn't do it because they were worried about gay men's feelings, they done it because it made sense.
