ELECTION DAY

Tammy Baldwin Makes History As The First Out Lesbian in the Senate. Thanks, Cheeseheads!

Give a shout out to the Badger State! Tammy Baldwin has won her election in Wisconsin, making her the first out lesbian to be elected to the Senate. (We can think of a few other possibilities, however.)

After an initially untrue report of victory, the Associated Press has confirmed that Baldwin did indeed beat former Gov. Tommy Thompson. It is hard to tell whether she sailed into office on Obama’s Wisconsin coattails–or whether it was the other way around. That’s how highly regarded she is.

Could she be on her way to another victory?

Tammy is a 2012 Queerties nominee for Next Big Queer.
