Tatchell Defends Anti-Gay Cleric!?

Have we stepped into an alternate universe? Gay activist Peter Tatchell – who has repeatedly been accused of being an Islamophobe – came out against the British government for refusing to visa anti-gay Muslim cleric Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who needs necessary medical treatment. No where in his harangue does Tatchell mention that the French government has previously allowed al-Qaradawi entry. [PT]

Is this the same Tatchell who condemned the Pogues for the word “faggot” in some lyrics.
I honestly wonder why anyone listens to him.
Are there no other gay “spokespersons” in the UK?

That’s the same Tatchell, Puddy. He’s probably trying to escape the tag of “islamophobe”. He should join the Archbishop of Canterbury who thinks Sharia Law should receive the same recognition as parliamentary law.

Usually I agree with Tatchell but in this case, since Yusuf al-Qaradawi is not only a gay basher but a ‘man of faith’ I think his medical treatment should be limited to the tender mercies of faith healers and shamans. That way he can preserve his pristine state of superstitious rightwing irrationality. .

Quaradawi asks for the death penalty for male homosexuals. He also endorses the murderous suicide attacks in Israel. The decision of the british government not to allow him into the UK is justified.rom
