Until they seized total control, the Nazis never won more than 38% of the vote in Germany. But it was a multi-party parliamentary system. They seized absolute control by exactly the sort of bullying and intimidation we see here. And by exactly the same kind of people in the Germany of that time. Point is, we need to stand up to this. Shout it down. Make the Beck’s and the Limbaugh’s and others uncomfortable. Keep digging into their private lives. Don’t be all high and mighty. Fight these people. Show them that it’s going to be ugly for them too.

There’s a famous picture of a woman at a Nazi parade watching Hitler drive by. The picture is famous because of the look of demented rapture on the woman’s face. Seriously, she looks almost exactly like Michelle Bachman.

Fred : When it’s appropriate, yes. People were fainting at Obama’s speeches, not at McCain’s. (And I voted for Obama).

@EWE: In this instance, it isn’t so much about the word itself as the sentiment behind it + the mentality of those who are laughing at it.

Well, Frank IS a scumbag, but calling him a “fag” would be like calling him a “Jew”. His sexuality, like religion/ethnicity, should be beside the point. So those who laughed are assholes.

big ups to Romeo’s words earlier. wise up, people. this is a war over POWER and the republicans have grown accustomed to feeding at the trough and they want it BACK. they will push the same cheap buttons the Nazis did over and over because of the inherent downside to human nature: it works. they are shameless and crude and have to be dealt with on that level. no wonder i have a lot of rage . . .

For a small entry among the puerile comments:
      @delurker: Teabaggers are public teabaggers.

More seriously, I’m still quite confused about their agenda and allegiance.

Yes, we DO have to fight this White House on a very base level. Hopefully Choi and the gay protests against Pelosi are just the start of it. We gays are like the teabaggers : we both say the government HAS to start listening to us and keep promises they’ve made.

I find it therapeutic. BTW, do you have any idea how many people read these threads, especially if there’s a picture of a cute guy? Queerty rules the world. God help us.

Fact is, I’m an unemployed teacher due to the general collapse of the universe because a bunch of wise-asses on Wall Street weren’t as good as they thought they were. Don’t get me started.

What we need is a tea bagger Kent State. Get the national guard out there to shoot down some unarmed tea baggers. That’ll teach em. Then Obama could steadfastly refuse to apologize to the families of the dead bastards, just like Nixon.

No, no, no, Queerty! I expect better from you all! It was ONE protester who was quickly admonished by the crowd. Not all conservatives are bigots.

“Frank, who is gay, was leaving the Longworth House Office Building when a man yelled a charged homophobic slur at the Massachusetts lawmaker.

Other protesters quickly admonished the shouter, with one woman yelling back, “We don’t need that.”"

Keith your WRONG. The washingtonpost reported Teabaggers were chanting homophobic slurs at Barney Frank. This was a chant by a small crowd of people. Along with others Yelling the N-word at a black congressmen and spitting in black congressmens face. The majority of republicans are BIGOTS simply because NOT 1 has denounced the teabaggers and their bigotry.

One time, folks used to call me a fag and a faggot. Scott Thompson of the show “Kids in the Hall” used a phrase that I now use today and Barney Frank should use it too. That phrase is “I prefer the term Sodomite!” It doesn’t matter what we think of Barney Frank-at a time like this, we need to close ranks and support our own!

It’s amusing to see some people on this thread trying to defend the actions of the scum of America (@WiseUp & Keith Kimmel).

Not only where they shouting anti-gay slurs but they where also chanting the N word and spat at black Georgia congressman John Lewis. You’d think it was 1960 and not 2010.

@romeo: I have always thought you are one of the more sane posters on these sometimes inane threads, (two degrees will help in that arena : p) I too find posting on these threads to be theraputic………..Good luck

The tea baggers are attempting to portray themselves as a party to “stop the gridlock” in DC, and “take the country back”….What they are is abunch of disenfranchised rightwing lunatics who are pissed that the repugnatican party has not totally gone off the right wing lunatic edge. They take their cues from clinical loony toons like Glen Feckless, Michelle Batshitcrazyman, Rush Windbag, et all. I truly feel sorry for very young of our country. We are no longer a nation of groups with differing ideas working towards the common good. We have too many groups spewing hate filled rhetoric which is going to cause this country to implode in the not too distant future
