Ted Olson: Please, Sirs, Let The Federal Judges Do Their Own Job

Rather than let the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rely on the California Supreme Court to determine whether ProtectMarriage.com, the group defending Prop 8, has legal standing in the case, Ted Olson is asking the Supremes to shoot down the federal court and let them figure out the issue of standing — a federal matter when it’s in federal court, Olson claims – for themselves. And if the Supremes don’t meet his request? Then they should reject ProtectMarriage’s claim to standing anyhow, since it’s “well-established” sponsors of initiatives cannot appear in court and represent the state.
