A 17-year-old Australian teenager named Angus has written a letter to the Warwick Rowers thanking them for releasing shots from their 2016 nude calendar online because it helped him realize he’s gay.
“Hi, my name’s Angus,” the letter begins. “I’m a 17 year old Australian who recently came out as gay to his friends and family.”

“I just wanted to say thank you, so very very much for what you guys do,” the letter continues. “The promo shots of your calendar and some of the pictures were some of the first ever photos of those kind that I saw. In fact it was the calendar images that made me realize my attraction and thus homosexuality.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Indeed, the Warwick Rowers can have that effect on people.
Angus goes on to praise the men for their willingness to show how “camaraderie and mateship is still possible when there are accepting people who don’t care about your sexuality.” He also credits them for giving him the courage to come out to his friends and family.

“They gave me the realization that when I came out to my friends they wouldn’t treat me any differently, but just like a mate,” he writes.
He concludes his letter by saying as soon as he gets a job, he’s going to buy one of the calendars.

Hi, my name’s Angus. I’m a 17 yr old Australian who recently came out as gay to his friends and family. I just wanted to say thank you, so very very much for what you guys do. The promo shots of your calendar and some of the pictures were some of the first ever photos of those kind that I saw. In fact it was the calendar images that made me realise my attraction and thus homosexuality.
But I think the most powerful aspects of the images are that they show that camaraderie and mateship is still possible when there are accepting people who don’t care about your sexuality. They gave me the realisation that when I came out to my friends they wouldn’t treat me any differently, but just like a mate. Infact [sic] the day I came out I put one of the posters on my phone lock screen as motivation to come out.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for what you’re doing, fighting homophobia and giving confused guys like me confidence in their attraction and eventual acceptance. As soon as I get a job I will buy one of the calendars and support this great cause, so hopefully you can keep helping others like me.

In my case, it was those male Calvin Klein models (especially Mark Wahlberg).

Well,who can resist them boys??
KiwiJello
Am I wrong to see irony in a group of straight men “recruiting” gay men? And here I thought it was OUR agenda.
Mack
@KiwiJello: Well to hear the Right Wingers, we’re trying to turn all the straight guys.
Johnathan
THESE BABES WOULD MAKE ANYBODY WANA GET OFF!
Captain Obvious
@JessPH: Right?! Mahky Mahk probably made a lot off guys realize they were gay.

I’d like to see all the proofs from that photo shoot!

This is so sweet, and you know I’m not surprised…I’m glad he penned a letter to them, that’s one of the reasons they did it, not only to show themselves off but to support everyone.

My best friend was married for 16 years with a ten year old daughter and before he got married he had had sex with a man when he was swinging with a former girlfriend. He had never actually been attracted to another guy and if he had the urge he said it was nothing more than a fantasy until one day he met a guy and they ended up having sex and afterwards he was laying in bed while the other guy fell asleep and said it felt right being there in bed after having sex with the guy. He got dressed, went home and told his wife he was sorry and still loved her just not sexually attracted to her and it was nothing she did that it was all his fault and he cheated and it was with another guy and he just actually realized he was gay and just going through the motions with their relationship. They separated the same day and had an amicable divorce. He was in a couple of relationships and then he met his boyfriend and they have been together for almost nine years now. His daughter is an adult now and fully supports her dad’s relationship.

I’m shocked no one is hating [or am I too early for the fireworks?]
That’s what everybody seems to be doing in these comments.
i’ll be back later I’m sure someone will have started something…

In (MHO) it is photos of masculine and attractive men that is needed to get our ‘message’ across to the young people who are confused about their sexuality or are just beginning to feel this attraction to the male form! What sets us back our photos (and interviews) of feminine looking men who are forever, drag queens, and are given a lot of space in gay journals (to show our inclusiveness and admiration?) IMAGE is the operative word, with these kids, and that is why a lot of these sports figures should come out (not just be our ‘friends’); if they did it would change this dynamic 360 degrees!
