Despite the Netherlands' acceptance of gay marriage, many of their overseas territories, like Aruba and Antilles, still snub same-sex nups, a division Dutch parliamentarian Ineke van Gent thinks needs to change. [Daily Herald]

If they want the Dutch cash, I think they have to follow Dutch law. Either that or seek independence.

It's all about the ethnic make up of each individual Island. That combined with the poitical mess the Dutch have allowed on its caribbean islands.

Out of all the Dutch caribbean islands the most friendly towards Gays(meaning that Gay people are allowed to marry civily) is guess, the one with the highest percentage of caucassians living in it, Saba (The Unspoiled Queen of the Caribbean).
And the most homophobic with documented incidents of violence against Gays is guess, heavily black populated St Maarten.

The Dutch have allowed almost quasi-rampant political anarchy to rule the islands, allowing Aruba to seceded from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986, while still forming its own state within the Kingdom of the Netherlands which has also set the stage for the same desire by St Maarten and Curaçao . This was programmed to happen on on December 15, 2008, but showing no backbone the Dutch have allowed the plan to be postponed to an indefinite future date.
