Is the Haiti earthquake disaster over? No, but that doesn’t mean gay activists (as in, activists who are gay) Luke Montgomery and Nate Guidas — who say they’ve raised $30k through their insta-charity Cause Commandos — are done with do-gooding. So they launched UnF–kTheGulf.com (yes, with the hyphens) to generate cash via t-shirt sales for this group of charities. Yes, BP and the equipment companies should be on the hook for the clean up bill, but we’ve still got pelicans, dolphins, and people’s livelihoods to save.

Unclear on the concept
Sorry, but as a longtime resident of Seattle who remembers him from the days of Luke Sissyfag, I have to seriously question anything Luke Montgomery is involved in. He is a relentless self-promoter who will do anything to claim the spotlight.
Luke started out as a self-proclaimed AIDS activist best known for attacking openly gay officials who disagreed with him about AIDS policies. When we stopped paying attention to him, he suddenly rejected the gay lifestyle and began appearing on fundamentalist radio and tv, decrying gay people as “totally devoid of any moral character” and calling anti-discrimination laws “fascistic”.
Now he’s gay again and jumping on whatever cause of the moment gets him on camera for a minute or two. So as much as I like the concept of Unf–k The Gulf, I really can’t encourage GLBT people to give this media whore a penny of our money.

I thought the video was hilarious and laughed all the way through. The campaign seems hip and attention grabbing. I am definitely not turned off by the word FUCK nor am I uncomfortable with hearing it repeatedly especially when it’s for a good cause. I wouldn’t mind buying the cool shirt and helping out a few of those poor fucking dolphins.

Really care about the gulf? Go to one or more of: http://lagulfresponse.org, http://greenpeace.org/usa, http://earthjustice.org, or http://lawraonline.com (the same charities the makers of the t-shirt are donating to).
That way, you can spend the $13 on charity, instead of spending $13 on a t-shirt (while only $5 go to charity).
