FWIW I’ve seen no studies that indicate there’s any difference in the rate of transsexuality based on ethnic background, skin melanin content, hair colour etc.

Of course white gays aren’t interested in transsexual women, and as there are few trannsexual men who are also gay, less than 20%, they don’t have much choice there either. Transsexual women are either lesbian, straight, or bi, and the straights and bi’s want – I nearly said “real men” so as to reply to your offensiveness with a similar tone – straight, or possibly bi men. So why should they be angry? I think you’re projecting.

The problem is that black and latina transwomen get a triple whammy. They get denigrated because they’re women, denigrated because they’re “people of colour” and denigrated because they’re transpeople. Thank goodness the Internet has meant that they’re no longer able to be ignored and shoved to the back of the bus any more. Or under it, not without it being noticeable.

BTW I’m white, middle-class, conservative, straight, and Australian. If it’s obvious to me, then anyone in the US who doesn’t see this has to be wilfully blind.

Transgender advocates are a close group and generally will support each other’s opinion on all things GLBT regardless of how absurd. Perhaps that is why no one has seriously questioned the tone of her blog.

I am curious, is the overwhelming predominance of angry black trannies and transexuals shouting on Queerty a symptom of something else? ie it is all a transference of anger from blacks onto white gays?

To expand on what i mean – Because they have been rejected by the black communities and they cannot, because PC discourse will not permit it, criticise the black communities that have rejected them, they therefore direct their hurt and anger onto those closest to them, ie white gays.

But of course white gays, whether racist or not, are generally not interested in trannies, certainly not as bed partners. And this must them anger them also.

Further, are there more black trannies and black transexuals than white? And if so, why is this?

When you’re helping someone heal from brain-damage they received from a transphobic hatecrime, and trying to give someone else a reason to live now their children have been perpetually forbidden from seeing them again because they transitioned, you sometimes let such comparatively minor matters slide. First and foremost, I think referring to a website as “unsafe” is ridiculous unless you’re talking about a URL that installs viruses on your computer or phishes for personal info. From reading the post on TransGriot, I could only conclude that Monica’s definition of “safe” would be a site that censors any views that do not mesh with her own.

Second, maybe I’m just quirky, but I tend to enjoy it when the more ignorant among my enemies open their mouths and reveal their stupidity to the world. Generally, I find it encouraging that my foes are dimwitted morons. It sure makes me feel like I’m the one with the moral/intellectual high ground, and it lets me get to know my enemies a little better. Knowledge is power, after all, and it’s nice to get a refresher on how those people think once in a while.

Third, the jackass who made those disgusting comments was thoroughly taken to task for being an idiot by plenty of Queerty readers, especially Sebbe. That alone should be enough evidence to support the argument that painting all Queerty readers as transphobic is not only erroneous, but entirely ignorant. As far as I’m concerned, it also proves that Queerty is, ultimately, an entirely “safe” space, in the truest sense of the word. It’s safe for bigots to spew their bile (for the most part), and it’s just as safe for us rational folks to call them out on it if we so desire.

Indignant self-ghettoization advances nothing. If our trans brothers and sisters want a discussion, that’s what they can get here. If they want to be coddled and appeased, then obviously they’ll be disappointed. As someone who fully supports trans people and their inclusion in the movement, I think it would be better for everyone if there were more connection and less separation between us. Dialogue and education are how bridges are built. Censorship and pouting are great ways to burn them.

I thank you for bringing my error to my attention, although I must say that the stiletto heel whipping you administered was a bit excessive in my humble opinion. I might be an old man with failing vision, but I am not an ogre who is also a contemptible transphobe. the following exchange I had with Vernon today will verify that fact.
