The Family Has Come Out and Said It: Uganda’s Kill the Gays Bill Is Mean and Stuff

It took until after Uganda’s Kill The Gays bill was introduced, but now The Family, Washington’s secretive faith-based network of politicos and power brokers, is going on record as being against the bill. The move follows many of The Family’s elected officials coming out against it (minus Sen. Sam Brownback). But what’s significant is not The Family’s public statement (although it’s appreciated), but the behind-the-scenes lobbying from the group’s insiders deplete support for it in Uganda, where The Family reportedly wields much influence.
