“The Fighter” Boxer Pulls Support From Scott Brown Over Marriage Equality

Micky Ward is best known as the boxer who inspired the Oscar-nominated film The Fighter. But the pugilist delivered a right hook for equality this week when he pulled his support for Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts, claiming he didn’t agree with the politician’s stances onlabor  unions and same-sex marriage.

“I can’t support Scott Brown. I just can’t do it,” Ward told The Sun of Lowell after agreeing to back Brown, who is up against progressive Democrat Elizabeth Warren. “I found out Scott is anti-union and I’m a Teamster guy. I found out he’s also against gay marriage, and I say, if you love someone, you should have the same rights no matter who you are.”

Oh what we wouldn’t give to see Ward wipe the floor with Manny Pacquiao.
