Spanish might be a romance language, but Spanish police nixed Thursday’s planned kiss-in set to coincide with Pope Benedict XVI’s arrival in the heavily Catholic country.
Though some 100 gays and lesbians had planned the civil action along Madrid’s Calle Serrano to protest the Pope’s hard line against homosexuality, authorities blocked protesters less than a kilometer from their meet-up spot and forced them to disperse. Big Papa is in the Spanish metropolis as part of a four-day celebration of World Youth Day.
The queer protest had been organized on Facebook by a group defending LGBT rights, said activist/performance artist, Jaime del Val. A similar smooch-fest successfully greeted the Pontiff when he came to Barcelona last November.
Unmolested by smooching sodomites, the Pope spoke to a group of nuns about threats to the religion:
“This is all the more important today when we see a certain ‘eclipse of God’ taking place, a kind of amnesia which, albeit not an outright rejection of Christianity, is nonetheless a denial of the treasure of our faith, a denial that could lead to the loss of our deepest identity.”
Treasure of the faith—like the ghastly Spanish Inquisition, held in the very same town some 500 years ago?
BTW: If any cute Spaniards still want to kiss another guy in public, we’re totally available.

Speaking of “amnesia,” it was the Catholic church — the Catholic Pope particularly — who authorized and encouraged the destruction and enslavement of Africa and the New World with the pronouncement:
“We grant you [monarchs of Spain and Portugal] by these present documents, with our Apostolic Authority, full and free permission to invade, search out, capture, and subjugate the Saracens and pagans and any other unbelievers and enemies of Christ wherever they may be, as well as their kingdoms, duchies, counties, principalities, and other property [...] and to reduce their persons into perpetual slavery.”
Has there ever been a more monstrous crime against humanity than this? Yet the Catholic Church and its monarchy is still regarded as a quaintly benign institution.
Rather than going to Spain to continue to spread lies about how his religion is under attack by sinister forces, he should be going to Spain to beg forgiveness for the enormous outrages his religion has visited on Spain, and the outrages his religion caused Spain to visit on others.
But naturally the Nazi Pope will not because he is an unspeakably evil, vile, duplicitous creature.

This entry is kinda out there…
Some Spaniards turned up for Papa Ratzi, but the police broke up, not a gay-protest per se, as much as a huge turnout protesting the added expense to the gov’t at a time when Espana hasn’t got extra cash to toss around.
And the “Popa-ganda” was incredible in that it could all be read both ways:
“Indeed, there are many who, creating their own gods, believe they need no roots or foundations other than themselves,” Ratzinger warned. “They take it upon themselves to decide what is true or not, what is good and evil, what is just and unjust; who should live and who can be sacrificed in the interests of other preferences.”
It was his barely veiled comment about Spain’s laws that allow for Marriage Equality, easier divorce, & abortion rights. So, do we have false gods? lol Hey, Papa Ratzi, if it’s really about faith, why don’t you guys divest? Yeah, I thought not.

I can’t wait till gay rights is a thing of the past because we as a culture understand that love between two people, no matter the gender, is still love.
I am painting a series of paintings, one being titled Leviticus 18:22 Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. It is my attempt at removing the negative original passage in Leviticus and attaching it to an image and a new phrase to support rights for all.
http://www.postmodernrevelation.com (please note the first painting in the series is pretty disturbing to some so please visit with caution)
Thank you and have an awesome weekend.

No. 10 · Don’t play with fire wrote, “@Andy: Keep playing the Hitler card – it will make the next Holocaust happen easier.”
One might add that, when using titles like “Fuhrer [sic]” (as Andy did), if you can’t get an umlaut over the ‘u’, the alternative spelling is “Fuehrer”. If you get the spelling wrong, the German gods might get mad at you, with Wotan pointing his spear in your general direction.
The word “Fuehrer” simply means “leader” or “guide”, or “driver” in bureaucratize or Swiss german, and sounds far more innocuous in german than in English, That’s no surprise – the Nazis were very effective at using euphemisms and they wanted to give Hitler a non-threatening title as a ploy, particularly before they had full control over Germany.
Those tactics are still going on today, where terms like “family values” are used to make bigotry against gays sound more acceptable.

Yes, let’s not offend the Pope.
No, wait, screw the Pope. As someone raised Catholic, I’ll say that if anyone is decimating the “treasures” of Christianity, it’s the Catholics and the Pope. F em.
