The Geek Will Inherit The Earth At Bent-Con

Good news for gay nerds: Bent-Con III is fast approaching!

The annual comic-book, gaming, movie and sci-fi gathering with a queer bent lands in Burbank, CA from November 30 to December 2 and offers a host of artists, writers, performers, distributors and exhibitors. Confirmed attendees include horror author Christopher Rice, Buffy The Vampire Slayer‘s Amber Benson, Once Upon a Time producer Jane Espenson, Andrew Chambliss, Babylon 5‘s Claudia Christian, Wonder Woman artist Phil Jimenez and legendary Elfquest co-creator Wendy Pini.

But with attendance rocketing to 2,000 from about 500 last year Bent-Con organizers need some help making it a real blowout. So they’ve set up an indiegogo campaign to help reach their $20,000 goal—they’re a little more than $1,000 of the way there with only 22 days left.

“Unlike most conventions, we’re a non-profit, 501(c)3 foundation,” says Bent-Con president Sean Holman. “We do this by the skin of our teeth and cut corners where we can. With this year’s fundraiser, we’re looking to pay a host of expenses before the con starts and that way add back in the box-full of corners we usually cut out.”

Donations will help set up things like wi-fi access, online streaming of panels, t-shirts for volunteers, advertising, convention guides and, most importantly, pay off the bill for the rental space at the Marriott Burbank.   And since your donation doubles as admission to Bent-Con, it practically pays for itself!

Head on over and pledge and we’ll see you in November. We’ll be the ones cosplaying as Blorgons.
