If that's the Matthew Sheppard Hate Crimes bill, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007, HR 1592, you’re talking about Bush didn’t veto it. I’m sure he would have but it never got to his desk. It was killed by Democrats Kennedy and Pelosi. Kennedy attached it to a 'defense' appropriations bill because many Senate Democrats and all Republicans opposed it. It passed as an attachment and went to the House for Conference (it had also passed in the House.)

"Status: This bill never became law. This bill was proposed in a previous session of Congress. Sessions of Congress last two years, and at the end of each session all proposed bills and resolutions that haven't passed are cleared from the books."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Law_Enforcement_Hate_Crimes_Prevention_Act_of_2007

That was in December 2007, just before the primaries and the fix was on. The Democrats, led by a quisling named Barney Frank, had just finished raping ENDA with the help of bigots in his party and the Republicans. Frank accepted every amendment to ENDA offered by Republicans, including one that said it could not be used against DOMA’s.

This was just before the election began in earnest. The Democrats were terrified of being identified with GLBT issues. Both the hate crimes bill (which had already passed both houses) and the gutted version of ENDA were quietly dropped. (Well not entirely quietly, GLBT were enraged and said so, but they just ignored us, as usual.) Bush never got a chance to trumpet his bigotry vetoing them and the Democrats didn’t have to be humiliated by seeming to be LGBT friendly.

Everybody was happy, except us. We brushed the tread marks off and tried very hard to decide who the worse bigots are, Democrats or the Republicans.

George W. Bush was a HORRIBLE times infinity of a president but people voted for him in due to their "THE SKY IS FALLING" and the only thing to do is swear in a zero intellect president into office. That and the cheating that took place during both elections to keep African Americans and Latinos from voting both 2001 and 2006 elections because of fear of large turn out that would have been in favor of Gore and Kerry. Thank god Bush is no longer. That crap about keeping us safe is nothing but a joke not funny hahaha, but funny what a complete waste of 8 years running or should I say ruining a country. Bush could have done better than supposedly kept us safe for 7 years after 9/11 by actually have read the papers and took action. Then he could have been a real hero not a false one people sadistically make up till this day.
