I do think that Bill Clinton is a decent guy, but, first and foremost he like all politician is an opportunist who will say or do anything to curry favor with the public.
Well, there’s no question Clinton is a Machiavellian politician, as most are, though maybe more so. But I think he’s at a point where he doesn’t really need to be so circumspect now…and he probably personally thought marriage equality was a good thing for a lot longer than he ever let on. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop him from slapping us in the face with DOMA. Hard.
Bill Clinton is amoral scum. I voted for the SOB twice. What he did to Monica Lewinsky was immoral. I am not a Christian…I’m an atheist. Monica was a subordinate. The most important thing to know about Jamie Kirchick is that he is a crazy ass right wing nutjob. He’s one of those Uncle Tom gay conservatives like Cyd Zeigler who lives for the opportunity to say something like this. Unlike Cyd, though, Jamie is often right. His gunning for liberal homophobe Eric Alterman over the years has been hilarious. And he is spot on here. Kirchick on Clinton: scum on scum. delightful.
One thing also to remember about Clinton….We also know that in 2004, he advised John Kerry to support not only the many state-level constitutional amendments banning gay marriage, but also the Federal Marriage Amendment championed by President George W. Bush.
So he advised Kerry to SUPPORT a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage…and NOW he wants to tell us that he is really our friend?? Clinton is like the relative who comes to stay with you and then while you aren’t looking steals your checkbook and robs you blind.
