But one misstep I disagree with: His sexuality is NOT his choice. Whether gay or bi or whatever. It’s not his choice.

Wrong. The story doesn’t have to be accurate but they insist on having someone take the fall if it doesn’t pan out. The tipsters are paid for gossip and agree to take the blame or no money changes hands.

People should not be defined by their sexuality because one’s orientation can be fluid. Maybe Renner has experimented or maybe my bidar is off-base and he is completely hetero. The issue is if Renner denies this…and hypothetically in the future hooks up with a guy…the media will call him a liar and a fraud when he is not. Only Renner has the right to make such declarations but we can still have our opinions. We just should not let the tabloids control our minds and thoughts.

Anyway, I know I drifted off-topic. Celebs tend to be wrongly defined by media labels, gossips, and false images.
The celebs like Clooney and Aniston, who are just as manipulative and conniving as journalists tend to be the most popular. People should not define Jeremy Renner based on a National Enquirer article.

1. They can get print runs halted and lose millions if they make shit up and

You responded, by saying what I said wasn’t true because I made spelling mistakes, accused me of making this up because I have a fantasty of this guy being gay etc… The fact remains, if anybody has an agenda here it is obviously you. But the truth is, no, I don’t like this rumor. But it’s not because of the reason you think. I know you won’t believe me, but I actually hated that Jessica Simpson rumor even more.

True, every celebrity is gossiped about. But I (normally) do not read it. I’m no saint. I used to read it, until – without going into details – I saw up close how tabloids, tv shows, Internet gossipers, etc., take an item and out of human error, carelessness or simple greed end up twisting the truth. Or completely lying. My experience was very real, though it was NOT with JR, by the way. I don’t know him personally (and I don’t work for him or for his agency, either). Long story short: Once you see what’s behind the curtain, the magic is lost.

I don’t want JR to be a celebrity. I want him to stay an ACTOR. But rumors matter. They have greater impact now than anything else. They DEFINE people. Angelina “stole” Brad away, so she’s evil and Jennifer is nice. Clooney, no matter how silly he’s starting to look with so many younger women, well, he’s just the dream.

But I don’t want JR to be “the ladies man.” Or “the partyer.” Or “the gay guy.” I can’t even imagine what the rumors will be when the tabs get ahold of some of his interviews – before fame, when he could be honest and serious and no one paid attention to what he had to say except his fans. I know it’s coming. And already I’m rolling my eyes. He’ll become a Leno punchline. Or No. 6 on Dave’s Top 10 list. And it could impact how seriously he’s taken as an actor.

And THAT is why I don’t like the rumors.

Now, as for how I and all the other stupid girls on here found this site: Blame the person who wrote that headline. I initially saw it by chance after Googling one of my favorite actors, “Jeremy Renner,” in the entertainment news section the week his movie won the Oscar. I didn’t Google “Jeremy Renner gay.” Just “Jeremy Renner.” This was the first time I’d seen this rumor, and I hadn’t heard about the Enquirer. (I don’t read it, remember.)

And as of around 1 am on March 12, it WAS the top link under the search for “Jeremy Renner.” Again, not “Jeremy Renner gay.” News cycles can turn by the hour, so I’m not surprised it wasn’t still there when you searched.

Finally, please stop with the “I come here to get away from you people” and the “you don’t belong here because you’re not gay” crap. It’s insulting, and it makes you – and my buddy No. 60 – sound like hypocrites. Also slightly small-minded, and a little ignorant of how the Internet works.

And to everyone: In an interview years ago, Colin Farrell said that while filming SWAT he and Jeremy went out drinking, and Colin got so smashed he ended up falling and breaking his ankle. (Or was it his wrist?) So that joke about Mexico, and spooning, and not remembering what happened? Probably just a joke.

P.P.S. There’s probably no truth to this rumor. I say that not because I’m delusional, or because “I don’t want him to be gay.” And certainly not because there’s anything wrong with it. It’s because if you read the actual Enquirer article, it’s full of inaccuracies, and that “quote” could have been taken out of context.

Anyway this page is definitely not the first hit when you google him. It’s not even on the first page and I’m sure not even on the first ten so what the hell are you talking about? You probably googled ‘jeremy renner gay’ so that you could find somewhere people were discussing it and do your little rant. Same goes for the people who pretend that they know him. So my main problem with these girls who suddenly show up at queerty to be like “sorry guys he’s straight” is like you have imdb and perez hilton and everywhere else where people will agree with you so why come here?! No, because all the other stories were correct too. You can protest all you want, but merely trying to claim that this story is false because of where it was printed is the saddest attempt at deflection there can be. It was the same B.S. that Clay Aikens Publicists used to use, somebody would say that “The Enquier says that Clay is gay” and the publicist would respond with “Oh, the Enquier says it? Well did you read that he is also marrying a two headed alien?”. So sure, they could deflect all they want, but the story was correct. So roll your eyes all you want, but if thats the best you’ve got it isn’t worth the cheap newsprint that the papers are printed on.

No, it’s this stuff, with that attention-getting headline that people with a lack of critical-thinking skills will automatically take to mean that he is, in fact, gay, and that he’s lying about it to boot.

I feel so bad for him. Not because it’s about homosexuality. But because THIS is what people want to read, WILL read, ARE reading about him, instead of getting to know his excellent body of work. Many people who don’t know him, or don’t care, will skim that headline and take it as fact that “the Hurt Locker guy is gay.” It won’t just include open-minded people, smart people, people who don’t give a freak. It’ll also be closed-minded people. Homophobic people. And, worst of all, fearful people in a money-driven industry who cast movies and TV.

When I first saw this last night, I actually laughed. And planned to buy the Enquirer the first chance I got. But no sooner than I posted here, I felt like I’d somehow let down Jeremy — a guy who just wants to act, and to live his life, whether it’s as a straight man, a closeted man, or a man who doesn’t give a freak what other people think.

I don’t give a rat’s ass whom Jeremy sleeps with guy or girl. Of course as a straight female I’d want him to be straight, then I might have a chance (in my dreams) but where in my comment do I sound like I “desperately don’t want him to be gay?” I’m not the one posting stuff trying to prove he’s straight, am I? If he is gay, so be it, I’ll accept that fact because that’s who he is. If he’s not gay, I’ll accept that too. I’ve been down this road before with other male celebrities I’ve admired whom have turned out to be gay, it’s no skin off my nose. I still love them for the artists they are.

You seem to be confusing “Sexuality” with “Who somebody is fucking”. I know who JRO.COM is and I’m gonna call out, Ahrean. I don’t think you know anyone associated with Jeremy Renner, Ahrean. I’ve been a fan of his for a very long time and I have seen your name around IMDb and other message boards pertaining to Jeremy for many years. I believe you and JRO.COM would like nothing more than Jeremy not to be gay, as I would too, being a straight female. But we always have to face the fact that our favorite male stars may be gay. In the hetero world, we are conditioned to think everyone is straight because it’s “normal” when in reality we never know.

I understand why he wouldn’t come out if he is. He grew up in Modesto for God’s sake. We have an LGBT community here, but it’s small. I volunteer at Stanislaus PRIDE Center because I have gay friends and the conservative bible thumpers are loud and hateful here. All I have to say is if he is gay, it’s a good thing he left.
