The Queen Remembers McQueen

Alexander McQueen’s memorial service today during London Fashion Week, where Vogue editor Anna Wintour gave the main address, “started promptly at 11 a.m.,” which I’m sure would’ve made him smile. [NYT]

They all look so fragile in the bright gloom of the London daytime. My kind of vampires.

WTF? If that’s what you decided to write about McQueen, why did you even bother?

For special occasions, my hubby and I would go old school for dinner at Old Homestead Steakhouse (best steaks in Manhattan). But the best part of the fun was window shopping to/from the subway to the restaurant, through the fashion district. And the best of the best was always the Alexander McQueen. He had that magical eye that kept the extravagant from being kookie — going way out but not overly so. Viewing the McQueen windows was like admiring a favorite artist in a gallery or museum.

As of a few weeks ago, the Puma on-line store had a limited number of McQueen designed men’s tennis shoes available.
