The Texas Gay Couple Booted From Restaurant And Called Fags Just Got The Perfect Last Laugh

big-earls-texas-gay-360x210Earlier this year, a waitress at Big Earl’s Restaurant in East Texas told a young local gay couple that they could “never return” because the restaurant “doesn’t serve fags.”

Collin Dewberry and Kelly Williams say the discriminatory slur was hurled at them as they were leaving the restaurant after they had eaten their meal and paid. “We’ve never had that kind of hate displayed to us before,” Dewberry said.

Big Earl, the restaurant’s owner, confirmed the events to KLTV, pointing to a sign on the restaurant’s front door that essentially bars feminine gays and butch lesbians from entering the establishment. It reads: “Here at Big Earl’s we like for men to act like men and for ladies to act like ladies.”

Screen Shot 2014-11-19 at 2.43.08 PMBut maybe you knew all that already. What you might not know is that Collin and Kelley recently showed that they are incredibly good sports by appearing on a Tosh.0 “Web Redemption” segment.

They talk about Grindr in small towns, their experience in the restaurant, and a lot of other wonderfully ridiculous nonsense.

Oh, then they stage a fantasy gay restaurant to open across the street from Big Earl’s, which notably features photography from a local artist whose sole medium is nude pics of Big Earl.

While these two are riding the wave of attention from this unfortunate incident (and hats off to Daniel Tosh for turning something ugly around on its heels), we can only hope Big Earl and his daughter are still dealing with the negative press.

Oh, and Big Earl — your food is terrible.
