If you aren’t a dog person, you undoubtedly know a few. And if you’ve spent even a small amount of time around them — in their home, at the dog park, on the beach perhaps — you’ll recognize how disturbingly accurate the below video from Buzzfeed Animals is.
The intensity goes up by a factor of a billion when it’s a couple who co-parent their pooch:
When you have more than one soulmate….

We have a beautiful black, Lab rescue. He languished in the shelter because stupid people actually believe dogs with black fur are “mean and vicious”. Also, our Lab was one year old when we adopted him. People want puppies. Anyway, long story short, we spoil and lavish our dog with love and attention and yes, he sleeps in bed with us at night. Our lives revolve around him. Wouldn’t want it, or have it, any other way.

We have two rescues: a dobie (Tyler) and a greyhound rescue (Tristanne). They are our kids! They are always with us, including at the office during the day. We live in coyote country so they are NEVER left outside unless one of us is with them.

What I learned a long time ago is when you date a guy with a dog, NEVER expect to be first priority, regardless how long you date. His dog will ALWAYS take preference, and if you don’t coddle and cuddle the pet too, and agree to be second fiddle, you’re gone. Plus, dogs do not like to share their owner with anyone.
Best to date a guy who’s petless and then buy one together if and when the time comes.

Everybody likes to play house and have a dolly? Surprised they didn’t dress it up in costumes. Would be cute if it wasn’t so pathetic. Totally misplaced affection, not to mention a really lame effort at assimilation.

I have a french bulldog named Olenka. She is the cutest dog in the world. She likes to kiss me and lick me all over my face. I love her.

1 – My partner is my first priority. It’s my pet, not my child.
2 – A trip? Enjoy the kennel, Rover.
3 – What kind of people actually do this with their sig-o? Oh that’s right—single people.
4 – My dog loves everyone and has never exhibited jealous behavior or separation anxiety. Perhaps he was trained well.

Some here have no understanding of what it is like to own a pet.
I don’t own a dog… But a Siamese cat. Awesome kitty… Very sweet and loves attention (debunks the myth that cats like to be alone). I love animals and if someone doesn’t accept that… Yea they are gone. It doesn’t mean a pet would take priority over a person. It just means that I love animals and treating them with love and respect.

@David Bolton: Sound like you just got lucky in that he isn’t jealous or have separation anxiety. As for my partner & I, we would never, EVER put our beauties in a kennel. “Enjoy the kennel Rover”? Sounds damn cold to me.
And a true dog owner never refers to him or her as a pet. They are the most human of all animals and deserve, make that need, to be treated as such.

Banjo! LOL
We’re on our 3rd rescue. He’s reclining on the couch right now.

I love both cats and dogs. It is their owners (parents, masters, whatever) that I have a problem with. But then, I am not to fond of children either.

This is exactly how my husband is with our dogs.

I don’t know why, but couples with dogs seem to have stronger relationships. At least that has been my experience. â?ºð???ð?¶

@Goforit: Unjustified comment. And I am not too fond of haters.
David Bolton
@Michael: Well good for you. My dog is kenneled in a very safe and well-attended environment. He is pampered and played with. I love my dog dearly. But he is my pet, not my child. That doesn’t make me “damn cold” or not a “true dog owner” but it does make you unable to see someone else’s point of view, apparently.
Goforit
@GC1985: Wow. I didn’t think that anyone would take my comment as a personal attack. I simply meant that children or people who treat their pet like it is their child, probably would not be my first choice with which to spend an enjoyable evening.

I’ve had dinner parties where the guests dogs were invited. It’s a blast. It enhanced the evening. The doggies liked it too. Pets are vitally important and they make us laugh everyday. They don’t do dishes.
queermarek
@1EqualityUSA: What? Our dogs “preclean ” our dishes after every meal. 🙂

ohhhhhohh, darling! I’ve yet to find Platex Living Gloves that fit our babies.
