Will it be Liam? Navid? Teddy? When 90210 returns to the malaise of fall television, one of its male characters is coming out. Yahoo, let’s everyone speculate at the fictional character’s expense!
It’s actually a bit of good news after EW‘s Michael Ausiello broke my heart about some other gay television news (SPOILERS AHEAD …)
— when he broke news that on Brothers & Sisters Kevin and Scotty’s surrogacy plan falls through and instead they decide to take in a foster kid. Though it’s one way to avoid that obnoxious part of television: Raising babies, who make the worst characters. No personality!

i wish it was trevor donovan….but will have to go with gayface in the middle there…

Raising babies on a TV show is also very expensive because you needs at least twins. A foster kid needn’t have one (and may even be gay, à la “Torch Song Trilogy”!)

90210 was recast and resurrected. That I can see. It was a ratings getter for three seasons. Note how many years the original aired. I had this slated for a one and done. Didn’t think it would survive after the nostalgia wore off. Good for them.

Oh I thought this was about which actor is secretly gay, because I would’ve chosen the guy who plays Liam. I smell closet gay all over him. I think that’s why they keep having to chem test him with every female on the show…he doesn’t mesh well with any of them.
They’ll probably go with Navid just because he(the character) fits the boring stereotype.
Hilarious
Nevermind…I just remembered last season. It’s Teddy(and no this isn’t a spoiler, just an educated guess), his father is the stereotypical control freak who he has to prove himself to. Eh that’s worth watching I guess. At least they’ll finally have a gay and he’s hot.

@Hilarious:
I think ‘Liam’ is gay off screen, too.
But you didn’t hear that from me.

I don’t even watch this show, and I’ll bet everything I have it’ll be the guy in the middle. He’s the only one that’s not hot, and you know they’re not going to risk making their hot characters gay, for the straight girls’ sakes.

Nothing will save this crappy show. Don’t let the producers exploit the gay community in a vain attempt to resurrect it.
alan brickman
why can’t a show have two or more gay characters instead of just one? very exploitive….

@alan brickman: Oh, but they had a lesbian character on last season. She had a relationship with a series regular and their relationship lasted a few episodes until the lesbian cheated FOR NO GOOD REASON AT ALL.
90210 will probably treat the gay guy character badly too. Although, I have to say, I’m surprised that they’re having a series regular be the gay character. Either way it’ll be annoying seeing him obviously not have physical affection with his boyfriend. That is if they even give him one.

As a fan of the show, it would not make sense for any of these three characters to be gay; all three have maintained long term exclusive romantic and sexual relationships with the female leads. If any of the guys pictured “came out”, they would have to make him bisexual (as the one female character last season who had a very short same sex relationship technically would be). But from the information in the EW article, I would say that Teddy (Trevor Donovon) would make the most sense and be concise with the plot, but most likely be Navid (Michael Steger) because he’s the least physically attractive and I highly doubt they would make any of the heartthrobs a ‘mo. Nobody would be invested in that however because the heterosexual relationship he’s been in on the show has lasted the entire duration of the show so far and is definitely one of the more compelling. They should just do the normal thing and have a new character be gay, and have everyone behave “matter-of-factly” about it from the start. It would be totally realistic considering the cast is supposed to consist of affluent and diverse Beverly Hillians who were born in 1992.
