There’s a Perfectly Reasonable Explanation Why Lady Gaga Is On Fire

Pop plaything Lady Gaga dropped this video on pop culture today, and we may never be the same.

gaganails

Okay, we’re overstating, but “Bad Romance” is pretty tricked out, and we love how The Gaga is now opting for fingernail accessories. It’s a little Alien meets “Thriller” + “Scream.” And just to piss off PETA, she’s walking around in a bear carcass disguised as a coat.

Now, was that Gaga or Amy Winehouse in the last scene?

Yet another female attention whore wearing little clothing in order to get attention. Wow, how original!!

Ga Ga is basically selling herself using the stereotypes preferred by heterosexual men. She’s appealing to men who would vote against our gay rights.

She is the Gay Icon! Lady Gaga can only get better and we will bestow all the Gay Adulation that the other bitches (Madonna, Janet, Beyonce, Grace, Mariah, Bette, Elton, Oprah & Donna) will never deserve for back-stabbing Gays even once!

I’ve seen several interviews with her and she is hilarious. No she’s not specifically fighting for womens or gay rights, but she is certainly not hurting them.

Oh, and she is a writer and designs her own outfits so don’t even pull the corporate focus group crap.

GaGa is no Britney. She’s vocally and ardently supported gay rights issues from the beginning, unlike many of the pop “divas” lionized by the community. She walks her walk.

Even better, she one-ups the competition by subverting it flawlessly. Perhaps particularly poor readers of her pop-culture lexicon don’t get it — that’s why the jokes on them.

What does it say that she’s in on the joke, when some people don’t even get that the joke is on them?

Lady Ga Ga is in this business to make money. If this means exploiting the dumbtards in the male gay population, so be it. There is an endless supply of useful idiots in the gay male community who think that half-naked females are worthy of adoration and commercial enabling.

The gays got sucked in by Madonna for so many years, is it any wonder they continue to be sucked in by others?

Motard,

Once or twice is parody. Many times is exploitation and enabling.

Ga Ga is effectively using parody to promote male heterosexual fantasy. Rather than questioning the parody, she’s actually perpetuating stereotypes about the role of women in society. She’s no better than Britney or Beyonce.

Wow, Jason and Afrolito remind me of so many readers who leave comments on my blog. Lonely negative souls always criticizing pretty much everything. I wonder what really floats their boats, maybe Barbara Walters in a mumu reading excerpts from Larry Kramer’s “Fagot” would do the trick.

But what’s saddest is the fact that as much as they pretend to hate this and every other gay blog out there, while I will leave this message and forget about it, they will religiously come back here dozens of times daily to get their fix of human contact. I bet they even subscribe to the comment feed to make sure nobody disagrees with then, while secretly praying that someone does, so they can feel relevant. So sad indeed.

Turn off your computers bitches and go outside, you do know there are actual humans out there right?. I would like to see if any of you have the balls to be this bitchy and rude to strangers in person, because I would personally love to see you get your asses kicked.

Cheers dweebs.

Lady Ga Ga is no better than Madonna. Both exploited gay men in order to get to the top. Gay men, you’re a bunch of suckers.

I have to ask, with all due respect, what is your actual issue with Lady Gaga? Other then making fun of those who like her, all your posts seem to say is that you are upset that she is half naked. For a pop music singer, she has said more about gay rights then most gay artists are wiling to. As Ivars says above, she has spoke out at award shows, done gay marches, and performed at the HRC dinner. When it comes to top 40 pop music artists, what more do you actually want her to do?

Talentless? Seriously? She writes her own music and is in fact so prolific that she has written songs for numerous other artists. I would like to se 90% of pop artists do that…oh wait they can’t. So what if she shows her body. She is comfortable with it and knows it will help garner attention. She has made that decision, no one made it for her. Since when to feminists have to hide away in full length parkas?

@ Jason…She has done a hell of a lot more for us than you sitting wherever you are pretending your are important and criticizing others. Also if you read her interviews regarding this video she is quiet intelligent and understands the satire of playing to expectation. In the video, she gets kidnapped by prostitutes who sell her off to the Russian mafia after pooring vodka down her throat. She is not just saying “look i am a sex slut buy me!” Sorry your don’t get it feel free to continue being a debbie downer and probably being unsatisfied with your life. Maybe someday you will have as much influence as she does. Keep wishing.

Hell I’ll still like a artist that don’t support gay rights as well. Her job is to entertain me and her fanbase and by far Lady Gaga has been doing her job. This is all I can expect from her. Just because someone is against gay rights does not mean they suck as an artist.

Lady Ga Ga likes women? Ha, ha, ha. You mean like how Madonna went through her girl-girl phase in the early 90′s? Sorry, I’m not buying it.

The sad fact is that many female pop singers are part of a cynical marketing strategy devised by sleazy heterosexual men and their female enablers. It’s to use female bisexuality as a marketing ploy. It’s got nothing to do with gay rights but everything to do with porn-like pandering to male heterosexual fantasy.

These female pop singers effectively appeal to men who don’t give a rat’s about our rights.

What a profound tautology you’ve discovered! Musicians sell music! To people, even! And — wait for it — they’re using SEX?!

Someone phone the Grey Lady.

If Gaga is supposed to appeal to straight men, excuse me, but the straight men in your life couldn’t be more closeted.

Gaga isn’t exactly a magnet for hetero guys; at least the ones of my acquaintance. Who do you think’ve been behind all the snickering hermaphrodite rumors? Do you think straight men go for Thierry Mugler chrome bustiers? Or the bubble dress?

*Actual* sex appeal for straight men — I have it on good authority — might resemble early Britney, but hardly most of the popsters that you’ve listed. But I can’t name a single straight man who’s been actually turned on by Madonna since perhaps Like a Virgin.

Moreover, how exactly is it you’re aware each and every straight guy who’s into Gaga is the same Jesus-totin’ wingnut haunting airport bathroom stalls? If anything, I’d imagine straight guys into Gaga are on our side, in spirit, if not in bodily fluid exchange.

Jesus, get over yourself, Mary.

You sound like a crazy bemulleted lesbian separatist, circa 1989 — and even the lesbians put that behind them, thankfully.

I wonder who is being more of a attention whore…Lady Gaga or Jason? lol. Seriously…give it a rest. Just because you don’t like her doesn’t mean the rest of the world has to have the same opinion. Regardless of what she thinks about gay people or gay rights she has brought some interesting change to a dull music scene that has been dominated mostly by hip hop and R&B. I am all for the best of many types of music (Jazz, Blues, and the like) but I also love a song with some bass and a catchy tune. Some people need to get out of their self-centred look of how the world should run and actually smell the flowers that are sitting right in front of their faces. Not comparing Lady Gaga to flowers…. Think of the best things in life….don’t always look for the worst.

One of the problems with the gay male community is that you’ve become enablers of male heterosexual fantasy. Lady Gaga has brought us OPULENCE EXTRAVAGANZA.

She is serving couture iconography, performance art, storytelling, diva fierceness, and camp (“I’m a free bitch, baby”).

There are so many scenes here you could literally frame as artwork. Beautiful, creepy, visually arresting tapestries.

I feel that this is the first video from her when everything fell into place. Not that it wasn’t fun to watch her get her footing…but this video is leagues ahead of her others. Every musician has their place, and I’m glad Gaga was able to shake up the industry after it had cooled so much this decade. It’s funny that she’s no so much of a revelation in Europe as in the US because their pop scene is filled with quirky space creatures making visually striking videos.

As for the strange ‘straight male tyranny’ critiques, sometimes people (especially good looking popstars like Gaga and Britney) prefer themselves to be half-naked…no sleazy heterosexual puppet masters needed. And to counter the ‘it’s dysfuntional gay men go crazy over female artists parading to straight men’s fantasy’…think about professional wrestling or cage fighting or the like…sweaty dudes wearing next to nothing (the poster for a WWE wrestler and a gay male pornstar share a lot) getting aggressive and physical with each other. Does this mean it’s dysfuntional for straight men to like wrestling when it’s catering to gay men’s fantasy?
