There are boyfriends.
And then there are boy friends, AKA bros, AKA buds, besties, meaning two guys, sometimes gay, sometime ambiguously straight, who are friends but who don’t have sex with one another.
Contrary to popular belief, not every gay guy has engaged in sexual intercourse with his male friends. Sure, sex is a great pool from which to recruit your social life. You hookup, find it less than satisfying, then discover a mutual love for Judy Garland or, if you are younger, Beyoncé. Things kinda blossom from there.
Plenty of lifelong gay friendships have begun as tawdry one night stands. But sometimes we connect on a deeper level without ever desiring to see each other naked.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Don’t believe us? Scroll down for four sets of celebrity boyfriends who insist they’ve never had sex with one another…
Korey Kuhl and Tyler Oakley
Don’t be fooled by their flirty tweets and silly banter, this pair of Los Angeles YouTube stars are just friends. BFFs to be exact. They’re currently competing together on the 28th season of the Amazing Race for a $1 million cash prize. And with that kind of money on the line, it’s probably best they don’t complicate their relationship any further. They certainly have great chemistry already. (Full disclosure: We are proud to say Korey once worked for Queerty.)
After Lambert posted this picture of Lambert and Smith partying together in NYC, the rumor mill went into overdrive. When asked by Ryan Seacrest if they were a couple, he replied: “No… no… We bumped into each other at a club in New York a couple weeks ago and had few drinks with our friends … He’s really, really cool. He’s actually really down to earth and he’s got a great sense of humor.” Why does everyone have to make assumptions because it’s two gay guys? The vibe does not always have to be sexual.
Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper
The silver foxes have long maintained that there is absolutely no sexual chemistry between them. In a 2015 interview, Cohen explained: “We were set up on a blind date over 20 years ago and it never took. I thought the call went great but he said that he could picture me wildly gesticulating and it turned him off.” But, he added, the two went on to become “great friends. But we’ve never done a thing. We’ve never seen each other naked or anything.”
Russell Tovey and Jonathan Groff
Sure, they may have shot some pretty steamy sex scenes together in HBO’s Looking, but that was the extent of Tovey and Groff’s physical romance. In real life, they’re buds. According to Tovey, they initially bonded over their mutual love of Broadway musicals. “Jonathan is obviously a musical king,” he said, “so between takes, we’d be singing songs from musicals. They’d call cut and we’d break into a tune from Chorus Line. I think he’s absolutely brilliant.”

Obvious reasons.

I can’t imagine having sex with a “friend” straight or gay no matter how attractive I might find them. I can be friends with someone I’ve had sex with, but if I think of them as a friend first, the idea of sex with them is totally repugnant.

It’s a matter of choice and attractiveness that would determine whether or not you would have sex with your best friend. In my own case, I had several best buddies I never had sex with only because there was no sexual chemistry between us.However, I had two crushes in high school that never fully developed because both left (moved and joined the service) before our friendship would develop into something more meaningful. (the one who moved was enrolled for one year and our first meeting was: WOW! He was blue eyed blond-tight body and always wore white T-shirt, which showed off his physic and had a walk that emphasized his self-confidence!He could have been a clone of James Dean!)

Don’t think I could do it with a close friend…I would have to be really drunk – passed out, bleh…even my ex, wanted to get back together, I had/have no sexual interest anymore because we remained friends.

SERIOUSLY: WHO THE FUCK CARES???
Sluggo2007
I’ve never had sex with a gay friend and never wanted to. To me, their friendship is much more important than a few moments of lust.
