A picture is worth a thousand words, so there’s no need to explain much further that 2015 has been a historic one in the struggle for LGBT equality. The trailblazing Los Angeles LGBT Center has released a magnificently moving video account of all of our incredible accomplishments since January, including the emergence of trans people such as Aydian Dowling and Caitlyn Jenner, and, of course, achieving the right for same-sex couples to marry (except when Kim Davis is nearby). Plus, there are reminders that our fight isn’t over yet (we’re looking at you, Houston), with bigotry still very present in the U.S. and a horribly astonishing number of gay bashings and murders of trans folks still taking place in this country and around the globe.

It’ll be interesting when California gets strong anti-discrimination laws, because right now sexual orientation is not covered when it comes to service providers – only certain places of public accommodation.

The video is titled “the year that changed the WORLD for LGBT People” but it is entirely US centric. Good and bad things happened in the rest of the world too.
