It has been quite a while since Toni Braxton, the pixie R&B diva, has done anything that really impressed us. “Unbreak My Heart” was our jam. We even enjoyed “Hit The Freeway,” because it let us pretend to be more bold than we are. But what was that record Libra all about? Yuck. So along comes “Make My Heart,” off her new album Pulse, which comes out in May. And while we aren’t wowed, and are very, very interested.
The song isn’t bad/ I consider it a teaser for what is more to come. Toni is certainly reinventing herself.
I will say the video did look kind of cheap. Not in that “You’s a ho” kind of cheap, just economically. It was basically just her in front of a green screen and what looks like the basement of an old building.
I did appreciate the old ladies in their Sunday best with the fans.

I love Ms. Braxton, He Wasn’t Man Enough For Me kept me alive through several bad romances and this songs great, but a dancer she obviously is not. The hot men’s had some moves though.
Oh, and what’s with the Rihanna rip-off haircut? I know she can rock a short cut but that particular one has been done!

I have to say, I like it. It does have me interested in hearing more of her album.
