—Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza, in a joint statement heralding the man who pardoned them, President Bingu wa Mutharika [via]
It was a strategic statement, and I applaud it. (for now).
·
So there are reports that Tiwonge Chimbalanga has dissapeared or at least gone in to hiding after coming out of prison. Now she’s issuing press statements? Which rumors are true here?
·
There is a picture. Queerty just didn’t add it. Look @ Towleroad.
·
Fierce!!! That is the word that described them. Champions. Walking through a country mob of vandals can only be done with bravery. They are GIANTS.
·
No, they probably won’t criticize the laws until they are safe from imprisonment, assault, and death, and I can’t blame them.
It’s easy to be brave with other people’s lives. Jesus Christ.
·
Do you actually expect them to criticize Bingu (and much of Malawian society which agrees with him) while they’re in Malawi? I hope you’re not criticizing them for not doing so. It’s my understanding Tiwonge is still trying to emigrate, let’s just be thankful they’re out of prison and, for now, safe.
